6-Year-Old South Carolina Shooting Victim Remembered By Batman

Tragedy struck South Carolina on Sept. 28 when a teenage shooter allegedly opened fired at a local South Carolina elementary school, fatally injuring 6-year-old Jacob Hall. On Saturday, Hall died from a major brain injury as a result of the shooting.

In paying respects to Jacob and his family, a tribute was held at Oakdale Baptist Church in Townville, South Carolina.

John Buckland delivered the eulogy for Jacob, dressed in a full Batman costume. The eulogy was extremely emotional.

“Take what we’ve learned from Jacob, let it make you a better husband, better father … better everything.”

Those in attendance dressed up as superheroes, Jacob’s mother encouraged those who would be attending to honor Jacob by dressing up as superheroes instead of traditional funeral attire. Those in attendance dressed as Batman, Superman, and the Ninja Turtles.

“I don’t want suits and ties and all that. There will be a lot of children there and I don’t want it to be scary for them.”

Jacob’s mother referred to him as a superhero following the incident, reminding everyone that Jacob was forgiving.

“Jacob was forgiving. What happened to Jacob, Jacob forgives already. He’s in heaven smiling down at us. He’s asking his mommy to be able to be strong to forgive just like he would have.”
