ABC President Talks About New Timeslot For ‘Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D’ Season 5

AgentsABC announced earlier today its new fall schedule for the 2017-2018 TV season, including a change for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 5. The long-running Marvel series will be moving to Friday nights at 9/8c after Inhumans ends its 8-episode run.

When Entertainment Weekly spoke with ABC President Channing Dungey this morning, Dungey explained why ABC is making Friday a more Sci-Fi/Fantasy focused night with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as well as Once Upon a Time that is back for Season 7 as the show is undergoing a soft reboot.

“We’ve turned Friday into more of a destination for our fantasy and science fiction fans. Once Upon a Time and S.H.I.E.L.D. are airing on the same night for the first time, which is giving many fans of both shows what they’ve been asking for for a long time. When we were looking at the schedule, it’s interesting how much pressure we’ve had from fans to put those shows closer together on the schedule for quite some time. We like the idea of Fridays being a destination. Once Upon a Time has done a wonderful job on Sundays of keeping the lights on against football, but we’re looking to see how it will perform when it’s away from football for awhile.”

Yeah not buying his explanation that much . Sounds more like a way to send AOS toward its end , after its constant ratings struggles . As for once upon a time , they are most likely trying to check if the show would still work without some of its main characters , with actors leaving etc …

But hey i’m not angry or anything , 5 seasons for AOS is already a great (deserved) run . Just happy it had the changes it got , and remained imo great , despite a few downs here and there
