Batgirl Amandla Stenberg

Little Rue from The Hunger Games is all grown up. Actress Amandla Stenberg has appeared in films and television shows since a young age and is about to lead her own film, Everything, Everything, due later this year. The outspoken activist also the author of the comic book Niobe: She Is Life done by the independent comic book multi-platform publisher Stranger Comics, so she’s very much into the geek world. Her work in the upcoming Everything, Everything film is promising to showcase her dramatic work, since it’s based on a love affair between her character, who suffers from a sickness (SCID) that forces her to never go outside and avoid contact with all people. • Yes. This is the only sensible option. Not to be an ageist, but more than half of those people are too old to play Batgirl, unless it’s going to be a semi-retired/back from retirement Batgirl.

  • Derek Wiles

No to all of those choices

Why half of this try to appeal to minorities instead of the longtime fans that want the character to be comic-book accurate?

Something to do with the fact that movies are increasingly earning more worldwide than in America, my dear white boy. And while white people mathematics may make you think that anyone non white is a minority, that is no longer the case. Non white people have becoming the majority in terms of ticket sales worldwide, so more and more movies will try and appeal the ‘minorities.’
Comic accurate is basically another name for the times when white people had brute majority and every character was written to appease the white. Today it has become only a last ditch effort for racists to cling on to a past that is no longer there. Bye.

Dear white boy? Thought my name would give it away, but I am not white, but latino. And I can tell you that we dont like it when a character is changed just for the sake of being politically correct. And if you look at the sales of most comic book movies, the U.S. still is the primary source of income for this movies.

      Too waif.

I think we need a young woman who is a bit of a hardass and not too nice. I believe it kicks out some of the contenders, unless they have hidden talents that we’ve not seen.

    This list sucks.
