‘Aftermath’ Star Levi Meaden Joins ‘Pacific Rim’ Sequel

Levi Meaden Pacific Rim Sequel

Variety has reported that Levi Meaden, star of upcoming Syfy show Aftermath, has been cast in the sequel to 2013’s Pacific Rim, which is set to release in 2018. Meaden joins the previously cast John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spring and Jing Tian.

The first film in the franchise saw Earth fight head on against the Kaiju, monsters that found their way to Earth through an interdimensional portal beneath the Pacific Ocean. With the sequel so far away it’s unclear what the plot details will be, though it’s set to begin production in November, so hopefully it won’t be long before we have some idea what the story might entail.

What we do know is that Pacific Rim 2 is set to be directed by Steven S. DeKnight with a production team consisting of Guillermo del Toro, who directed the first film, alongside Jon Jashni, Femi Oguns, Mary Parent and Thomas Tull. John Boyega, who was cast earlier this year after huge success portraying fleeing stormtrooper Finn in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is playing the son of Idris Elba’s character from the first film. Variety also reports further details of Meaden’s casting, noting that he is set to play an irreverent and offbeat cadet named Ilya.

With the premiere of Aftermath around the corner, up until now Meaden has previously worked with Syfy on Olympus, as well as featuring in Netflix’s The Killing and The CW’s The 100.

While waiting for further Pacific Rim 2 details, you can see Levi Meaden in Aftermath from September 27th on Syfy.
