‘Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Writers Get To Work On Season 5

agents of shield SpaceAlthough we won’t be seeing season 5 until January 2018, the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. writers are already back at it. After all, they’ve got to craft the explanation for why Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) was in space at the end of the season, not to mention where everyone else ended up. And then there’s the fallout from the Framework to consider. Plus, what’s Ghost Rider up to? Okay, it makes sense that they’re back at it already.

To announce their first day back, multiple Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. writers took to social media to celebrate the occasion. In particular, writers Nora Zuckerman, Drew Z. Greenberg, and Craig Titley, and S.H.I.E.L.D. star Chloe Bennet (Daisy Johnson a.k.a. Quake) had a few words to say. And Bennet had an idea for what she’d like to see for her character next season.

You can see the posts below.

With Titley teasing that we haven’t seen anything yet and Bennet asking for either a puppy or boyfriend, maybe we really haven’t seen anything yet. Inhuman dog anyone? Maybe Lockjaw can make an appearance.

Since it’s already been revealed there’s some sort of time jump between where season 4 left off and season 5 begins, there’s a lot of potential time and story to fill in. Last we saw of Coulson’s team, they had been eating at a diner following their final battle against Aida. During their meal, Coulson, Daisy, May (Ming-Na Wen), Fitz (Iain De Caestecker), Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), Mack (Henry Simmons), and Yo-Yo (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) were taken by what appeared to be government agents. So how did Coulson end up on a spaceship and where is everyone else? We’ll have to wait until January to find out.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, and Henry Simmons as Agent Alphonso “Mack” MacKenzie.

Agents of SHIELD

This week marked the season finale of the fourth season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Suffice to say, this has been a stellar season for the show. Probably one of Marvel’s best seasons on television (depending on how you feel about Legion). Season 4 gave us 3 distinct story arcs: Ghost Rider, LMD, and Agents of Hydra, and all of them were perfect. There was the right amount of drama, actions, story, and intrigue that held us over from week to week. Despite having a later timeslot this season, the ratings (thanks to loyal fans) held strong and the show was renewed for a 5th season in the 2017-2018 season for ABC. Even though the show is now in the “Friday Night Death Slot,” ABC President Channing Dungey is not worried as he feels the show has a strong enough fanbase to still do a great job, which it why Inhumans and Once Upon a Time will also share Friday nights with them.

As stated before, the season finale was an exceptional close to an explosive season. You can check out our review of the episode as well as our pointing out of all the MCU Easter Eggs for that episode. As the season finale ended with a great cliffhanger, there are so many places for the 5th season to go. Here are a few things in the upcoming season to look forward to. Click Next to take a look…

  • Huh! I thought they weren’t going to let the writers write the show, but it turns out they’re gonna write it. Guess I wasn’t right about the writers not writing it. Oh well.
