‘Arrow’ Star Stephen Amell On Roy Harper & Flashbacks In Season 6

Arrow Roy Harper Oliver QueenArrow ended its fifth season on a major cliffhanger as Oliver Queen and his son William witnessed Lian Yu being blown up, with Team Arrow all being stuck there.  While we don’t know a lot about Season 6 of the show, it’s safe to say that it will be drastically different when Arrow returns this fall.

Stephen Amell, who plays Oliver Queen a.k.a. the Green Arrow, recently appeared at Heroes & Villains Fan Fest in Nashville where he talked a bit about the future of the show. One fan asked the actor if we would ever see Colton Haynes, who played Roy Harper a.k.a. Arsenal, appear on the show again. Amell stated that he would be very disappointed if we never saw Roy again by the time Arrow comes to an end.

“I miss Colton Haynes’ handsome face every single day. If we end this show, whenever it happens to end, without seeing Roy Harper again, I think we will have made a tragic mistake.”

The Season 5 finale marked the end of the flashbacks which showed us how Oliver became the weapon he is today. While we won’t be seeing any more Oliver flashbacks, we will see flashbacks in the premiere that will show us the aftermath of the destruction of Lian Yu. In addition to that, Amell teased that we might see flashbacks that focus on other characters on the show.

“There are flashbacks in the first episode, that take us back to the immediate aftermath of the events in the finale. Which is one of the reasons that I had to shave my beard, so I could match up with [the finale]. There are no flashbacks in the second episode. You know how occasionally over the course of five seasons, typically it’s been Oliver’s flashback? Sometimes there have been episodes where there’s no flashbacks, and sometimes we’ve had flashbacks where we focus in on Diggle or Felicity or Renee. I think that’s what will happen this year, that we will have the occasional flashback. We’re not telling a linear story anymore about Oliver’s time on the island. We’ve brought that one full circle.”

Arrow Season 6 premieres on Thursday, October 12 at 9/8c on The CW.
