‘Arrow’: Stephen Amell On Oliver & Felicity’s Relationship Status

Stephen Amell Arrow

The mid-season finale of Arrow‘s fifth season concluded with Oliver being manipulated into killing Felicity Smoak’s boyfriend by the sinister Prometheus. The tragedy sent Felicity down a dark path that acquainted her with the hacking a group named Helix, much to Oliver’s chagrin. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, series lead Stephen Amell discussed when fans might finally be given some answers on the status of Oliver and Felicity’s relationship, which has been complicated ever since their broken engagement.

Amell explained why the series has been slow to provide the answers fans are eager to learn.

“Being in the fifth season of the show, we can let things burn slowly. I know that a lot of people who have been watching the show have been getting impatient is one word, upset is another, hopeless is the strongest way to put it, but at the same time, it’s our fifth season, we can take our time with things. Oliver and Felicity, whatever happened between them in between our fourth and our fifth season, and the reason that they have been where they are right now throughout the course of the season, we get a chance to explain it.”

Arrow is currently on hiatus and will return on April 26 with the episode titled “Dangerous Liaisons“.

Newly appointed Mayor Oliver Queen finds himself challenged as he fights on two fronts for the future of Star City. With Diggle back in the military and Thea adamant about hanging up her hood as Speedy, Team Green Arrow is down to just Oliver and Felicity – but they’re no longer the only vigilantes in town. Green Arrow’s public defeat of Damien Darhk at the end of Season Four has inspired a new crop of masked heroes to step up and defend the city, though their painful inexperience makes them obstacles, rather than allies, in the field. The arrival of a deadly new adversary will force Oliver to confront questions about his own legacy, both as mayor and as the Green Arrow.

Arrow airs on Wednesday at 8:00 pm ET on The CW. Be sure to check back with Heroic Hollywood after each episode for weekly reviews!
