‘Thor’: Taika Waititi Says ‘Infinity War’ Clip Does Not Spoil ‘Ragnarok’

Thor Ragnarok Marvel Studios

Avengers: Infinity War footage that was screened at D23 and San Diego Comic-Con opened with Thor hurling through space, amid debris, before crossing paths with the Guardians of the Galaxy. The dire circumstances that have befallen Thor prompted fans to wonder if the footage offered a clue on how Thor: Ragnarok will end for the God of Thunder. In an interview with io9, director Taika Waititi assured fans that the Infinity War footage does not spoil Ragnarok.

When asked if the footage spoiled Thor: Ragnarok, Waititi replied, “No, actually. No.” Of course, the simplest explanation is that the destructive event that sends Thor traveling through space occurs in Avengers: Infinity War instead of Ragnarok, though fans will have to wait until the God of Thunder’s third standalone film arrives in theaters this fall to find out.

In Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok“, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladictorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!

Directed by Taika WaititiThor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson,  Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins. The film will be released in theaters on November 3, 2017.
