Benedict Wong discussed the production start date for Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Marvel Studios is set to return to the cosmic and mystical corner of the MCU with Benedict Wong and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Although Benedict Wong and Benedict Cumberbatch reprised their respective Doctor Strange roles in the previous two Avengers films, the Multiverse of Madness will mark only their second appearance in a standalone film.
With Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in the early days of development, the filming start date for the Benedict Wong and Benedict Cumberbatch sequel remains unknown to fans. However, Benedict Wong stated the likely production start date for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be next year when asked during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter:
“I’m the last person to ask about dates. It’ll be some time next year.”

Details on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness are currently limited, though it is said to be Marvel Studios’ first true foray into the horror genre. Furthermore, the Disney Plus mini-series WandaVision will also serve as the lead-in to the Doctor Strange sequel.
Directed by Scott Derrickson from a script written by Jade Bartlett, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, and Elizabeth Olsen.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 7, 2021.
