Brandon Routh took on the iconic character of Superman back in 2006 in Superman Returns and is now sending good wishes to Tyler Hoechlin who will be taking on the role for The CW’s Supergirl.
During a Reddit AMA, fans asked Routh what he thought about Hoechlin taking on the role of Superman.
“I wish him the best and hope to meet him if Ray gets to crossover to Supergirl!”
Hoechlin is set to appear in the first two episodes of Supergirl, as Superman. This will be the first time that the character has appeared on the small screen since the conclusion of Smallville.
Routh has since returned to the comic book world starring in Legends of Tomorrow playing Ray Palmer, The Atom. The upcoming season of Legends will feature a cross over with Supergirl. This could set up the possibility of having Atom come face-to-face with Superman.
Speaking with the Daily Mail at the Sydney Film Festival premiere of Richard Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some, Hoechlin talked about his approach to Superman in the series:
“I never try to compare and contrast performances because it’s such an iconic character already. Superman is Superman so I’m just going to try to carry on the tradition of that and play that part. I think the fun is going to be finding where Clark Kent is in this world. I’m just excited to find out Clark’s sense of humor.”
