“Hi Everyone! I’ve been doing some Super Ruminations because this month is the 79th aniversary of Superman in action comics and thought it fitting to pass on this little fact. Who knew eh??

In January 1933, Jerry Siegel wrote a short prose story titled “The Reign of the Superman”, which was illustrated by his friend Joe Shuster and self-published in a science fiction magazine. It told the story of a bald villain with telepathic powers. Trying to create a character they could sell to newspaper syndicates,Siegel re-conceived the “superman” character as a powerful hero, sent to our world from a more advanced society. He and Shuster developed the idea into a comic strip, which they pitched unsuccessfully.

National Publications was looking for a hit to accompany their success with Detective Comics, and did not have time to solicit new material. Jack Liebowitz, co-owner of National Publications, told editor Vin Sullivan to create their fourth comic book. Because of the tight deadline, Sullivan was forced to make it out of inventory and stockpile pages. He found a number of adventurer stories, but needed a lead feature. Sullivan asked former coworker Sheldon Mayer if he could help. Mayer found the rejected Superman comic strips, and Sullivan told Siegel and Shuster that if they could paste them into 13 comic book pages, he would buy them.”

Cavill will be seen reprising his role as Clarke Kent/Superman when Justice League hits theaters this fall.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Amber Heard as Mera, J.K. Simmons as Jim Gordon, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West. Julian Lewis Jones, and Willem Dafoe are also set to appear. Here’s the official synopsis:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League hits theaters November 17, 2017.

DCEU Henry Cavill Superman
The DCEU has found it’s own definitive version of Superman. Henry Cavill has been given the opportunity to play the iconic superhero in this monster of a DC franchise and so far he’s done a great job with the role and brining Superman into the new century in a new way. With Justice League set to hit theaters later this year it’s safe to say that we will be seeing a lot from him over the next several years. So far there have only been two movies featuring him but these two movies have already given us some memorable moments with the character. These moments in particular stand out and give a weight to the character that is crucial to this series continued success. While it still may be early it’s a good time to look back at said great moments.

He keeps it WITH him? Altho now that I look closer, that looks like the inside of a trailer.

    • He posted the photo recently but we don’t know when it was taken. it could be an older picture that he just found a home for.

Rumored that reshoots are starting and it’s him doing his reshoots.

        • From what I’ve read additional photography (not necessarily re-shoots but shooting new scenes) are scheduled for August.

            That’s extremely late.

          • It is, but the general thinking (non-confirmed, of course) is that bringing Joss Whedon on to write he additional material is an indication that this stuff won’t necessarily be action or effects driven and will, instead, be more character interaction and dialog. With the bilk of the other work being completed it’d be an easier task of slotting this material in, provided Joss writes and directs the scenes in a manner that makes them fit easily.

I would love to just be chilling like that in a Supes costume
