Deadpool co-creator and storied comic artist Rob Liefeld is set to be inducted into the Wizard World Hall of Legends. The first recipient of the Hall of Legends award, Liefeld will be honored via a special ceremony on Friday, June 2 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
Wizard World has defined the award by saying: “For more than a quarter-century, the name Wizard World has represented the best in comics and pop culture. As one of the media pioneers in the space, Wizard World is proud to be honoring and respecting the legacy of the comic arts through the Wizard World Hall of Legends, a new initiative to celebrate the artists, writers, and insiders who have built the industry and those continue the traditions.”
Liefeld is best known for his work on Marvel Comics’ The New Mutants and X-Force in addition to being Deadpool’s co-creator. Thanks to Deadpool hitting the big screen, Liefeld was thrust back into the spotlight as the film neared release. Deadpool‘s success and big-screen presence also undoubtedly helped drive new fans to Liefeld’s comics featuring the Merc with a Mouth.
Of course, Deadpool 2 will star two more of Liefeld’s creations, the time-traveling mutant Cable and the lucky assassin Domino. On top of that, an X-Force movie is in the works and more of Liefeld’s creations and work will surely be in play.
Deadpool 2, starring Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson, Zazie Beetz as Domino, Josh Brolin as Cable, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapicic as Piotr Nikolaievitch Rasputin a.k.a. Colossus, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, and Jack Kesy, is set to come out on June 1, 2018.
X-Force and Deadpool 3 are currently without release dates, but it seems as though the movies are set to arrive in that order.

5 Essential Cable Stories To Read Before His Debut In ‘Deadpool 2’
Now that it’s official Josh Brolin will be suiting up as Cable in Deadpool 2, it’s time for everyone to get a crash course on the character so they can say “that’s not how it happened in the comic” when they see the movie with their friends.
Nathan Summers, the future son of Cyclops and Jean Grey, first debuted in 1986, but he didn’t make his full debut as Cable until 1990. Rob Liefeld designed him to be a leader more prone to take action than Xavier and that character trait has persisted throughout his long history. Cable has fought alongside the X-Men in the past as well as fought for mutants survival against the government in a dark future.
Cable is the straight-man to Deadpool’s goofball and I can’t wait to see the two of them come together next year in Deadpool 2. Hopefully Ryan Reynolds and Josh Brolin have the chemistry to bring this legendary bro-mance to the bigscreen, otherwise Fox will be hearing from a lot of angry fans.
