‘Doctor Strange 2’ Poster Teases Deleted Scarlet Witch Scene

This deleted opening would've been *quite* the statement.

A poster for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness teased a deleted scene with Scarlet Witch.

In the post-credits scene for WandaVision, Wanda Maximoff AKA Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) is seen in a cabin studying the Darkhold in her astral form as she hears the cries of her sons screaming for her help. The miniseries led directly into the events of the new film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

With the sequel now playing in theaters, some fans have noticed in the film’s ScreenX poster that a scene that was previously promoted was ultimately deleted from the finished film. An eagle-eyed Marvel Studios fan on Reddit noticed some interesting elements within the poster that tease something regarding the Scarlet Witch:

Scarlet Witch v Mordo: Dawn of Multiverse

Although nothing official was confirmed regarding this potential opening scene between Scarlet Witch and Earth-616 Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), this would’ve been quite a statement to begin the film. After all, the post-credits scene for the original Doctor Strange ended with Baron Mordo proclaiming to take out much of the world’s sorcerers, deeming that there are “too many.”

As the Reddit user claimed, if the new film began with Scarlet Witch decapitating Mordo, not only would it be a stunning statement to begin the film on, but also a fun opportunity for a visionary like Sam Raimi to exhibit his horror sensibilities in a massive way. Although reactions to the new film have been somewhat mixed amongst fans, many others have taken a liking to how Raimi got a chance to exhibit his directorial style into an MCU film.

Here is the synopsis for the new film:

The MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.

Directed by Sam Raimi from a script written by Michael Waldron, the film stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, with Michael Stuhlbarg, Rachel McAdams, and Patrick Stewart.
