Early Reviews For ‘Suicide Squad’ Surface

Suicide-Squad-banner

Suicide Squad finally arrives in theatres this weekend and early reviews of the film have already hit the Internet. Initial reviews appear to be mixed on the David Ayer project.

The trailers have shown an action-packed film focusing on the villains within the DC universe coming together to take on an even larger threat. Squad features the Joker (Jared Leto) and the debut of Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) on the big screen, both of which are mentioned amongst the early reviews.

The following is a collection of early reviews:

“It’s too bad the mashup of bad guys and girls doesn’t find its groove, because the format of pitting an ad hoc bunch of loners, misfits and outlaws against an even greater menace has proven to be highly reliable — from Seven Samurai and The Magnificent Seven to their numerous descendants. When Davis’ American intelligence honcho Amanda Waller proposes the idea of the bad-guy dream team to take on a rather vaguely described evil, it seems like a great idea: Sure, they’ll be hard to control, but it’ll be worth it.”-The Hollywood Reporter

“If Marvel has the best superheroes, so the prevailing geek-logic goes, then DC has the coolest villains. So it’s only sensible they’re finally placed front, centre and in the firing line. Filling its entire super-team with previously unseen antagonists, Suicide Squad represents a Flash-speed sprint of a catch-up for the rapidly forming DC Cinematic Universe. And, on that front at least, it’s a real hoot.”-Empire

“Suicide Squad is a decidedly different flavor than Batman v Superman. It goes for subversive, funny and stylish, and it succeeds wildly during the first act. But then the movie turns into something predictable and unexciting. It plods on, checking off boxes on a list of cliched moments and meaningless plot points, making you wonder where all the razzle-dazzle went.”-IGN

“When Suicide Squad gets it right, I like it a lot, and it gets it right often enough that I like a lot of it. It won’t deliver the decisive knockout blow that ends the DC/Marvel rivalry that the most impassioned fans seem to want, but nothing will. What it does is make a case for how much fun this universe can be when the characters are embraced fully and when a filmmaker seems excited by the opportunities afforded by those characters. Lots of superhero films struggle to make us like their heroes even half as much as we end up liking the villains here, and that alone is a pretty canny trick, one that I suspect audiences will enjoy quite a bit.”-HitFix

Writer-director David Ayer (End of Watch) skillfully sets up the film, introducing each of the crazies with caffeinated comic-book energy. But their mission…is a bit of a bust. The stakes should feel higher.-Entertainment Weekly

The beautiful thing about Suicide Squad is how, deep down at its core, it’s the realest comic book movies yet: A movie about people who need people. Even the irredeemable degenerates, the villains of the world who’ve not only violated the rules of society but set them on fire—like Deadshot (Will Smith), a killer for hire who’s actually a loving deadbeat daddy at heart, or Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), the deranged villainess locked in a torrid true romance with an unhinged psychopath (Oscar-winner Jared Leto).-Daily Beast

“Though wonky in structure, it makes a certain sense that this antihero tale wouldn’t play by the rules. Packed with attitude, Suicide Squad is ferocious fun, boasting a bounty of action, mirthful mayhem, and a cavalcade of curious characters. It’s just the kick in the pants Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment need to correct course ahead of next year’s Justice League.”-Comic Book Resources

It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Starring Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Karen Fukuhara, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood and Cara Delevingne, Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5, 2016.

just waiting for the marvel fanatic boys to start posting the negative reviews and call the movie a failure. Any moment now.

    • Marc Klein

This movie’sa failure. DC has no clue.. Marvel is better at this stuff.. Just kidding. :)

      • Alejandro Gonzalez

        😉

      • PunchInTheFace

DCEU is 0-3 on movies. I’d screw them for $20 or a lap dance for ten. That’s it.

    • AMOLAD_79

You should go to IGN. That place is an orgy of haters.

      • SAMURAI36

Then there are orgies of orgies. CBM, Bleeding Fool, & a couple of others. This is one of the precious few places that isn’t.

        • xxjinzaxx

CBM has got to be the worst. It’s blatant troll-blogging.

        • Carl

Oh no this one is just biased towards DC so you feel right at home. :)

        • PunchInTheFace

I like making fun of you because you get really worked up and go all Clark Griswold on the forum. Entertain me, Samurai!!!! ENTERTAIN ME!!!!

      • PunchInTheFace

Orgy of bad movie haters, yes.

    • JA_Media

We “Marvel Fanboys” also have been looking forward to this movie. We “Marvel Fanboys” also like other comics and comic movies. We “Marvel Fanboys” mostly hate the new Superman to be honest. Also, you cannot in any way, shape, or form stand up for Green Lantern either.

      • Alejandro Gonzalez

what Green Lantern movie? lol Looking forward on seeing Green Lantern in the future Justice League movies. Any prior film with the name Green Lantern has been erased from my memory. Just like the Punisher movie of 1989 and Captain America movie of 1990 for marvel fans ?

      • NomadChair

You Marvel Fanboi’s have short term memory when it comes to acknowledging such Marvel Turds like Hulk (Ang Lee directed) Iron Man 2 (Abysmal storyline) , GhostRider 2 (Lord have mercy) Elektra ? (was as much fun watching as sharpening an oak branch with my anus)..Justify that ?..

        • SAMURAI36

Excellent point. Marvel folks always wanna cover up their dirty shame that is the travesty of films from 30 years ago, up till the past decade ago.
They live in the eternal moment, where nothing in the past ever happened, prior to 2008. In the meantime, people are soooo ready to reach back into the annals of time, like some sort of comic book archeologists, to find every single flaw DC has ever made.

          • PunchInTheFace

If your penis was a DC movie, it would be two inches. FACT.

          • Carl

Awful point. No Marvel Studios fan claims to love the movies that came before. I think 13 straight good films is enough to forget the past that no one claimed to like anyway.

          • Joey Wabi-Sabi

Did you really just say that Marvel had 13 straight good films in a row? This is why no one respects your opinion. And this is why Marvel will continue to serve you mediocre movies. Because they know people like you will eat up anything with the Marvel logo on it. How will Marvel ever get better if you guys don’t call them out on their BAD movies? You’re OK with watching mediocre flavor-of-the-week movies? You’re OK with them making horrible underwhelming sequels? It’s shameful and disgusting.

          • Carl

All 13 Marvel movies were received well by fans and critics. All were a financial success with Incredible Hulk the only one that didn’t make a large profit. They were all good.

          • Joey Wabi-Sabi

Thanks for confirming your horrible taste in movies and reaffirming the fact that you base your opinions solely on critics and how much money a movie makes. This is why Marvel will continue to make mediocre movies and never try to improve. Hardcore comic book fans (not Marvel fanboys) will admit that they HATED Age of Ultron, both Iron Man sequels, both Thor movies. Ant-man was cute for a children’s movie, but in no way passes as a “great movie”. If you seriously thought any of these movies were “great”, your judgement is severely clouded. It’s time to look past the Marvel label and start judging movies individually, and start shouting back at Marvel when they serve you crap. Have some dignity. Think for yourself instead of being a bandwagon fanboy. And more importantly, STOP judging movies before you see them.

          • Carl

I’m sorry you have the minority opinion on this but all the Marvel movies are good and several are great. I would say that your taste in movies is severely flawed if you can’t see that most of the Marvel movies are loved by the majority of people.

No, hardcore comic fans did not hate Age of Ultron, I know several and they all liked it. It had flaws but was still good. Both Iron Man sequels are good but the 1st one was amazing and truly special. Thor was way better than anyone expected it to be and was a good movie with lots of character. Thor 2 was the weakest MCU movie but still fun to watch. Ant-Man was hilarious and is one of the best MCU movies. A great movie for all ages.

These are my opinions that I formed myself without any influence. I didn’t realize I needed to say that but you seemed to demand a disclaimer. Oh and I have not been paid by or work for Marvel.

            Happy?

          • Joey Wabi-Sabi

Nope you’re completely wrong, and everything you’ve just said is in the minority opinion. Maybe you were living under a rock in 2015, or you just didn’t have any internet access back then. So let me catch you up on some huge events that happened that year. Age of Ultron was released and it was a HUGE disappointment to Marvel fans. Joss Whedon had to DELETE his Twitter account because of the endless negative reaction to his movie from millions of fans around the world. The negative backlash was so HUGE that Whedon felt it necessary to publicly throw Marvel under the bus. He blamed the failures of the movie completely on Marvel and said he was in a constant creative battle with them. Joss Whedon also publicly admitted that he was not happy with how Age of Ultron turned out. The fact that you don’t know this proves that you are not up to date with the world of comic book movies, and you just make stuff up to defend your points. You’re not a comic book fan, and you don’t have any comic friends. You totally just made that up didn’t you? Otherwise you would have known that AoU is almost universally despised by most people, along with both Iron Man sequels. Are you just one of those bandwagon fans who jumped into this genre once it became “cool” to do so? Well if you’re going to pretend to be one of us, then you need to at least keep up to date with your facts. Blindly saying “all 13 Marvel movies were so great” makes you sound like you have no personal opinion at all. Wake up zombie. Start paying attention when you watch these movies from now on. Learn how to properly critique and analyze a film. This way you can actually have something substantial to say during these friendly debates. Point is – Marvel has made some really bad movies recently. End of story. No need to respond.

          • Carl

All 13 Marvel movies were good including Age of Ultron. A vocal minority bombarded Wheedon with hate mail over Black Widow calling herself a monster. The general public and Marvel fans liked the movie but it was a step down from the perfection of the 1st. Try to live in reality.

          • Joey Wabi-Sabi

Don’t respond unless it’s with facts – which is what I keep throwing at you. FACTS vs your small irrelevant out-of-touch opinion. You can keep repeating the same incorrect line over and over again all you want. It’s not going to make it true. The hatred of Age of Ultron by MOST comic book fans is a widely known fact. If it was only a minority of people, why did Whedon get into a public feud with Marvel about who’s fault it was that the movie was so bad? Are you not aware of the public spectacle Whedon made last year bashing his own movie and putting the blame on Marvel? I highly doubt all of that was because of a vocal minority. You’re doing a really bad job pretending to know what you’re talking about.

          • Carl

I gave you facts but you ignored them. Here are some more; Age of Ultron: RT Score: 75% on 309 reviews, RT Audience: 84% on 282,000 ratings, Meta Score: 66 on 49 reviews, Meta User Score: 7.1 on 2090 ratings, and IMDB rating: 7.5 on 460,000 ratings.

If you can’t agree that is a majority of people liking the film then there is no hope for you.

          • Joey Wabi-Sabi

I think people do criticize Marvel Studios films for their flaws. I think the criticisms are what lead to their riskier bets on Guardians and Winter Soldier. Criticisms have forced management to embrace the desire to see more interesting female characters. Audiences have cried out to see new characters with different perspectives and different stories. That is why they took a chance on Guardians, Black Panther, Dr Strange, Captain Marvel, and whatever comes afterwards.

DC also seems to have embraced the criticisms. The JL trailer presented a fun, cool, exciting film. Suicide Squad was sold as a fun, if darker, adventure film. Wonder Woman is being sold as a charming fish-out-of-water story. Flash is being written by Lord and Miller.

Fan reaction is pushing the studios to make regular adjustments. This will keep the genre fresh for many years to come. I’m still optimistic despite the disappointing nature of the non-MCU (sans Deadpool) films of 2016. WW, JL, Wolverine 3, look promising for 2017.

          • SAMURAI36

I’m gonna leave you to process this cognitive dissonance on your own. Have fun with that.

          • Carl

I would but there is none here. Please explain your definition of cognitive dissonance because the one I know has no relevance to my comment.

          • NomadChair

AWFUL POINT ? how ? spoken like a true Fanboi with a myopic view ,I can name TEN! Marvel movies that have failed WOEFULLY Fantastic Four reboot currently holds the all time L of comic book movies… Green Lantern and Jonah Hex is like “Casablanca” classic compared to that travesty mind you that was released in 2015!! mate ..what are you chatting about ? but off course “FANS” such as ..will say it was not in the MCU blah blah blah…

          • Carl

I said Marvel Studios. You do know the difference right?

          • NomadChair

You can spell M-A-R-V-E-L ..Yes ?..the studio is irrelevant these are STILL movies from the Marvel Universe that were shit..keep defending ..bye

          • Carl

What are you trying to say? I’m saying that Marvel Studios has made 13 straight successful films. What are you not understanding? I want all superhero movies to be good. It’s unfortunate that the Fantastic Four are still at FOX.

          • JA_Media

Fantastic 4 is also FOX not Marvel.. Do you even do your research?

          • Carl

Awful point. No Marvel Studios fan claims to love the movies that came before. I think 13 straight good films is enough to forget the past that no one claimed to like anyway.

          • NomadChair

Marvel fans are some of the funniest breed . I am not even a fan of any particular Universe just a fan of Good Movies! ..ELEKTRA , GHOST RIDER -SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE , FANTASTIC FOUR REBOOT , HULK ,DAREDEVIL , PUNISHER WARZONE , BLADE TRINITY, X2, ..had some of the worst written plots and special effects ever!!

          • JA_Media

            NONE OF THOSE ARE MARVEL

          • Axxell

One does not need to be a comic book archaeologist to find a DC movie with flaws….just pick the last one.

        • Carl

Hulk, Ghost Rider and Elektra aren’t Marvel Studios movies, they were bad like DC back then. Iron Man 2 is a good movie. Under rated actually because it had the impossible task of following Iron Man.

          • SAMURAI36

            And there’s the faulty logic.

          • Carl

            Faulty how?

        • JA_Media

Hulk was Lionsgate, Ironman 2 was meh, Ghost Rider 2 was Sony, and Electra and Daredevil were both Fox. Marvel has good record.

    • PunchInTheFace

The movie’s a failure. If you disagree, unzip my pants. I’ll show you success.

      • Alejandro Gonzalez

I told listen to trolls, haters or movie critics. I make my own decision if a movie is bad or good after i see it. And no need to unzip your pants, i already had punani for breakfast

When the public finally gets their hands on SS, & see just how good it is, hopefully they will learn from this whole “critics” debacle.
Critics are either A) ignorant, biased fools who are too in love with Marvel’s product to see the forest for the trees, or B) they are on the Marvel payola.
It’s probably a mix of both, and/or one of the other, based on certain cases.

    • Math

Because you’ve either already seen the movie or you made your mind before seeing it. Oh wait… I almost forgot who I was talking to. Me, I’ll juge it once I see it.

      • SAMURAI36

What does this have to do with what I said?

        • Math

You wrote wait until they see how good it is. Have you seen it? Where is your proof that it’s so good? It looks good but we won’t know until we’ve actually seen it. Are you judging this movie before you’ve seen it? Because I remember you calling out people who did just that.

          • SAMURAI36

So, are you asking me a question, or are you making an assumption about my supposed assumption?

          • Math

I’m just saying you are quick to bash people who make assumptions, yet you do it all the time as well. Maybe you should be more careful when you bash those who do or if you want to bash them, then live up to your standards and don’t do any yourself. But hey, do what you want. I love your passion man.

          • SAMURAI36

And yet, I’m still waiting for an answer to my specific question, which I have yet to receive.

          • Math

Do I have to spell it out for you? You are saying “When the public finally gets their hands on SS, & see just how good it is,” and I am saying that this statement has no value until you actually saw the movie.

          • SAMURAI36

Yes, you do. Because nothing I’ve said in this, or any other thread neither explicitly nor implicitly, gives you the distinct impression of whether I have, nor have not seen the movie.

Never once did you actually ASK me if I’ve seen the movie, despite my giving you a chance, MORE THAN ONCE, to do so.

Thus, you’re trying to admonish me for what you THINK is an assumption, but all you’ve done is make an assumption about me.
I’m not without flaws, but one thing I pride myself on NOT being, is a hypocrite.

          • PunchInTheFace

So have you seen it, dumbass?!

          • Carl

But you are a hypocrite. You proved it here today and were called out on it.

          • PunchInTheFace

Honey, sweetie….. put down the kitten. You have had a bad night. You’re ovulating. Stop getting angry with the nice men. Yes. You look pretty. Just go to bed. Okay? BED!!!

          • Math

You said yourself that you have not stated that you have seen the movie, yet you throw out such a statement. I have asked you if you did see it to know if your statement actually has merit behind it, yet you have not answered that question neither. Then you turn around and accuse me of making assumptions and not answering your own questions while you yourself don’t answer mine. You just love making a big circus out of your statements do you? All you had to do was state that you saw the movie, it’s freaking awesome and people should not listen to critics and this discussion would have been done already. Or if you did not see it, then say you hope people love it and realize that critics will be proven wrong and again, we would have avoided this discussion. But no. You love creating controversy where there is none so you turn everything people say on their head so you can look like you know better then everyone else and that’s what’s pi$$ing people off. No one likes a smarta$$. I don’t give a $hit what you think, but that behavior is what is turning a lot of people against you and it’s making your opinion not matter to them because they know you will twist their words and use it against them. Hey, I’m just saying that you should watch out how you say things if you want to be taken seriously because clearly most people don’t anymore. You might think you are “fighting the good fight to help DC”, but instead you are doing the exact opposite and giving DC fanboys a bad rep. It’s too bad because I would love to support DC, but people like you are just making the rest of us look bad. Either way, I know you’ll just twist whatever I say out of context and try to make me look bad, hoping to make yourself look smart, but you don’t look smarter by making other people look bad. You just make yourself look bad by doing this. I must say though, it’s kind of fun to see what new creative way you use to twist my words around so I always have that to look forward to.

          • SAMURAI36

I never once said I have not seen the movie. Never once. I simply have not confirmed whether I have seen the movie, one way or another.

And you NEVER ONCE asked me if I’d seen the film, ever. And you can’t QUOTE either statement, otherwise you’d have done it already. So that makes you a hypocrite, AND a liar. Which I suppose, is redundant.

And you do “give a $#!+ what I think”, otherwise, you’d wouldn’t have hurled a wall of words at me, in attempts to tell me about myself. Look around you; there are about a half-dozen idiots & weirdos in this thread alone, & you’d rather jump over all of them, & chastise me over something trivial.

And don’t worry, I’m not “twisting your words around”…. You’re doing a pretty good job of that, all by your lonesome.

Case in point: if being a DC fan is predicated upon the actions of someone that you don’t even know, never even met, & wouldn’t know from a can of paint, even of you did, then that speaks more about you, then it does about me. Do you think your dishonesty & hypocrisy has any effect on me whatsoever as a DC fan?

So while you’re worried about my conduct, I’m gonna be enjoying Suicide Squad this week (that I may or may not have enjoyed already ?). Guess which one of us will be enjoying ourselves more?

          • Math

What are you talking about? Here you go twisting my words again. I’ve asked you if you’ve seen it in my second post. You just ignored it completely. And I never assumed you saw or didn’t saw the movie. I’ve always gave you my arguments in both side wether you seen it or not. I’m not sure why you are playing this “have I seen it” or “haven’t I seen it” game, but that’s my whole point about this nonsense. Either way, I’m getting tired of these pointless arguments. We all know where you stand. You’re doing a pretty good job of making a fool of yourself on your own, so there’s really no point in arguing with you anymore.

          • Axxell

You haven’t seen the movie…if you had, you’d have said so long ago. But you still want to pretend you know what you’re talking about, which is why you want to act all ambiguous…

          • PunchInTheFace

Honey, sweetie….. calm down. I know you’re mad. I’ll get you the pendant. Just stop. Seriously…… just, stop. Taking it all out on the internet. Just put on your sexy number. The pink one. Yes, with the laces. That’s my girl. Internet…. I’ll calm her down……

          • Carl

            So true.

    • 39steps

      Your tears taste delicious.

      • xxjinzaxx

where are the tears? oh, I get it. It’s social media. You get to make-believe that anything you say is true. Good one.

    • BEARisonFord

      “this whole critics debacle” lol

      • SAMURAI36

        What’s funny about that?

        • BEARisonFord

your fundamental misunderstanding of how criticism works, among other things.

          • SAMURAI36

Riiiight. Because somehow, sitting around critiquing a film is some sort of clandestine, academic endeavor.
Try selling that to someone else.

          • BEARisonFord

            lol

          • BEARisonFord

            lol x2

        • PunchInTheFace

You need to come to bed and get off the internet so we can make love. I get aggravated that you’re here all the time.

    • JA_Media

False, they mostly hate super hero movies in general.

      • SAMURAI36

The reviews of Marvel films would seem to indicate otherwise.

        • JA_Media

I read plenty pooing all over every superhero movie

          • SAMURAI36

Not these Disney Marvel movies. They are the darlings of the critics world. You’d be hard pressed to find a review that’s anywhere near what DC movies get.

          • PunchInTheFace

            Because DC movies suck.

        • Carl

That’s because they are good movies not just good superhero movies. :)

        • PunchInTheFace

Why do you ignore your woman-man at home?!!!

    • Carl

There goes your delusion and bias again. You haven’t even seen it yet but assume it’s good despite poor reviews. Thrown in some conspiracy theories there and now you are a full on lunatic. You sure you aren’t voting for Trump? He loves conspiracy theories and lying too.

      • SAMURAI36

Prove to me, right now, that I have not seen Suicide Squad. I dare you. Prove it, right now, or get off this site, & never come back.
        Care to take that challenge?

        • PunchInTheFace

I’ll take it. If you have seen it, suck me off right now. I’ll love you long time.

        • Carl

Prove to me that you have seen it?

Also you haven’t even once claimed to have seen it on here. lol

          • SAMURAI36

I don’t have to prove $#!+ to you. You’re the one who made the accusation. The burden of proof is yours.

Do you KNOW if I’ve seen the movie or not? Yes or no?

          • Steve Steve

You’re putting a lot of effort into sidetracking the discussion. Why can’t you simply say what you thought of the movie? You are an anonymous internet persona. If you really did work for DC/WB/someone affiliated your non-disclosure agreement can’t possibly chase you to Heroic Hollywood.

In reality, you are a false construct meant to stimulate or create discussion on these blogs. Is it lucrative? Perhaps I could get into the same thing part time…

          • Carl

Do you know if you’ve seen the movie are not? I certainly can’t tell by your responses.

Do you realize that you are an insane person if you think that I should somehow have to prove that you saw the movie. You are the one that is saying it is great without ever claiming to have seen it. It’s easy to doubt that you have too because unless you are a film critic of some sort or got into a screener somewhere, you haven’t seen it. If one of those were true you would have said so already so there is my proof. :)

          • Axxell

Please, drop the act. If you saw it, you’d be able to describe at least one scene from the movie that we haven’t seen on trailers. You haven’t, so there you go.

    • PunchInTheFace

I know, right?! Because your credentials on assessing good cinema FAR supercede that of paid critcis or the general media. My God, if only EVERYONE could be like SAMURAI who sees the genius in crap movies from his laptop. All of you, understand, you are beneath Samurai’s superior genius and acumen in cinematic evaluation. You are but his unworthy children. SAMURAI sees all.

  • flavortang

I see it next week. Like MoS and BvS I’m sure I’ll love it, WB will make boatloads of money and I’ll look forward to WW, JL and the rest.

It would be a nice additional prize to have a DCEU movie that is roundly praised by all critics but hopefully that will come.

    • Carl

It would be nice for a DCEU movie to actually be good.

      • flavortang

I’ve loved all of them. I don’t let clip art decide for me whether I like a movie or not. I don’t let a few dozen individuals on a planet of over 7 billion decide what movies are good for me. I actually think for myself.

        • Carl

Great. So do I. MoS and BvS were not good films. I know, I saw them more than once. I gave them a fair chance.

          • PunchInTheFace

Heroic Hollywood will block me from interacting with you in any way.

          • Joey Wabi-Sabi

And yet you’re already passing judgment on Suicide Squad based solely on bad reviews, and completely ignoring the TON of great reviews. Are you some special VIP person who was at the premiere last night? I doubt it. So you shouldn’t be commenting and insinuating that SS is bad. You’re only proving to us that you DO let reviews affect your judgment, and you DO let others think for you. Don’t be weak. Try to think for yourself.

          • PunchInTheFace

I find your naivete attractive in a weird neckbeard way.

          • Marquis de Sade

            What ton of great reviews???

          • SAMURAI36

Right, & there lies the problem.

BTW, if anyone (especially those of us who are DCEU fans) are interested in going to early private screenings for DC (& other WB) films, you can sign up to do so on this website:

            https://wbtickets.com/
After you sign up, they will contact you with screenings in your area. There are TONS of NDA’s that you have to sign for EACH film you screen (I’ve done it twice already, about to go to my 3rd in the next couple of weeks), but it’s well worth it.

          • Joey Wabi-Sabi

THANK you for this. Never knew. I just signed up!

          • Marquis de Sade

Yeah, even the ultimate cut left me feelin’ “MEH!”.

          • Carl

Yep, it’s the same bad movie with extra subplot fluff. I’d say it’s slightly better but it makes the movie unbearably long for such a dull film.

        • Carl

Great. So do I. MoS and BvS were not good films. I know, I saw them more than once. I gave them a fair chance.

        • PunchInTheFace

          Said Charles Manson.

          • flavortang

            >_>

    • SAMURAI36

Me & the wife will see it opening morning, & again on Tuesday. After that, I’ll likely see it at least a few more times while it’s in the theater. I saw BVS 7 times, & MOS 5 times. SS well likely fall somewhere in between those.

      • Carl

Wow you are a damn fool. Why would you plan to see a movie more than once before knowing if you like it? Your wife doesn’t get mad when you waste money on 3rd or more viewings of bad movies?

You call me a Marvel fanboy but the most I’ve seen any Marvel movie in theaters is 3 times. That was GOTG and while it was awesome the 3rd viewing was free.

        • SAMURAI36

You are really coming close to me blocking you. I have no problem with trading insults, but clearly you don’t have enough conversational savvy to leave someone’s wife or family out of the discussion.
You had no points with me to begin with, but you definitely have none now. If you weren’t so fun to brow best, I’d be pushing the “block” button you as we speak. And I still might.

          • PunchInTheFace

Thin-skinned Sally. BLOCK HIM! BLOCK HIM!! He disagrees with your world view!!!

          • Carl

Ha ha ha, thin skinned much? I didn’t bring your wife in, I just asked if she got mad at you for doing crazy things.

We don’t really trade insults, you hurl them with reckless abandon and I bat them back with skill and finesse. :)

Go ahead and block me, you did it before, then unblocked me because you couldn’t resist a little more Marvel bashing and DC apologizing.

Don’t you see that most people here are not defending your ridiculous comments?

          • PunchInTheFace

Samurai is my girlfriend and rather unhinged. I’m talking her down with ice cream and videos of Thug Life Kittens.

          • SAMURAI36

Actually, I didn’t block you, I was ignoring you. I couldn’t block you, because Disqus didn’t have this new feature at the time, genius.
I’ll tell you once more, to keep my wife out of our convo. I don’t mention your family, don’t mention mine.

          • Carl

Marquis de Sade said to tell you “that if it means anything. Drew McWeeney gave S.S. a decent review. I would, but he blocked me a while back. LOL!”

Oh and my fiancé hated BvS, loved Ant-Man and wants to see SS. She also thinks seeing a movie more than 2 times in theaters is dumb. I tell her about the crazy stuff you say, we get a good laugh out of it.

          • SAMURAI36

I don’t care about Weener, I d&mn sure don’t care about Marquis (otherwise I wouldn’t have him blocked), & I’m this close from not caring about you.

          • Carl

Awww you care about me, even a little? How sweet. Have a nice day today. Let’s talk again after we both see Suicide Squad.

          • Marquis de Sade

Hey, Carl, let Sammy-rai know that if it means anything. Drew McWeeney gave S.S. a decent review. I would, but he blocked me a while back. LOL!

          • Carl

Ok. He might block me soo too though. lol

        • PunchInTheFace

          SAMURAI loves the beatings.

      • PunchInTheFace

The wife seems battered and resigned to a life of purgatory awfullness. (BECAUSE THIS PANSY SITE WON’T LET ME SPELL H-E-HOCKEY STICKS).

  • gradybridges

Is anyone really shocked that this is getting bad review, that while the is some good in the film it’s just a complete mess?

All this happens when you don’t have a plan. When you build from the top down. This movie should have been a no doubt home run if it came after 3 Batman movies. But the DCU is all about short cuts. It may make some money but if the movies aren’t good then who cares besides the suits? And Its short term money because eventually people will just stop caring

    • SAMURAI36

Nothing you said males the least bit of sense. All you are saying, is “DC is not like Marvel”. Nothing more.

      • PunchInTheFace

Just bend over, Samurai. DC = the escort. Marvel = the man.

Yes, I expect this will make you angry. FUN TIMES!!!!! Don’t disappoint me. Show up and show me the ANGRY!!!!!

      • Axxell

“Not like Marvel” in the sense that they haven’t built up to their tentpole DCCU films.

    • Steve Steve

I think it is more to do with the arrogance of the WB management that they could execute in the arena of CBMs better than some upstart group who is new to the industry. The humble start for Marvel Studios, imo, helped them to do something special and that humility carried them through Avengers. I expect their outrageous success has diminished their humility, but it still seems to be there in some form.

  • Carl

“Initial reviews appear to be mixed” by HH standards that means they are negative.

It’s really disappointing that this movie is getting bad reviews. I read these blurbs and a full review over on IGN. It doesn’t sound very good. This movie was supposed to be the DCEU’s saving grace but it seems like it is strike 3 instead.

    • SAMURAI36

Of course I’m not surprised that you say this. I don’t think anyone else is either.
Just a quick question: how many “strikes” did Marvel have at the beginning of their cinematic journey?

      • PunchInTheFace

One. Hulk. All else clicked. DCEU is 0-3. And you owe me love long time because you’re my woman now.

        • louace

          Dude
          Just stop

          • PunchInTheFace

Why? What did I say that was inaccurate?

          • louace

            I don’t know
            THE “LOVE” PART!!!

          • PunchInTheFace

Simmer down, Sally. If that’s the worst you’ve seen on the internet, maybe you should stay home.

          • louace

            wow..
            I actually think you’re right
            What have I become?!?

      • Steve Steve

None. Some could be called bunts, (indicative of a too-conservative approach, but they were made up by excellent films from talented, interesting filmmakers.

    • PunchInTheFace

SAMURAI36 is my woman! Ignore what she is saying! I didn’t buy her that fun love sapphire she wanted and she is like SO MAD!!!! Plus I said her boobs are small. DON’T get involved in our domestic squabble.

  • PunchInTheFace

BANNING IS SUPER FUN!!! BAN ME!!! DO IT!!! IT’S FUN!!!

    • PunchInTheFace

Why the heck am I not banned?!!!!!

      • PunchInTheFace

I’ll show my boobs if that’s what I need to do.

        • PunchInTheFace

Super hairy boobs. BAN ME, DUMB PEOPLE!!!!!!!!

          • PunchInTheFace

            This site is stupid.

          • Joey Wabi-Sabi

What is wrong with you? This site doesn’t ban anyone. It’s technically really really hard to block someone from a PUBLIC website. Do you see a login button anywhere?? NO. What a complete moron you are.

          • PunchInTheFace

You find me sexy. Are you my woman, too?!

          • PunchInTheFace

I made you my woman now. I hope that’s okay.

          • PunchInTheFace

SAMURAI36 is my woman. Before I get banned, I’m just going to say that. She loves me long time. Be nice to her.

  • PunchInTheFace

I love my Joey Wabi-Sabi! He is so hot and he will SO help me get banned! Sexy dish!

    • PunchInTheFace

Joey Wabi-Sabi is HOT! In VINYL!!!!!!

      • PunchInTheFace

        TIGHT!!! LIKE A TIGER!!!!

        • PunchInTheFace

Don’t make me get out the Crisco.

          • PunchInTheFace

It looks like you all like Crisco….

  • PunchInTheFace

How hard is it to get blocked from this place?! It’s rather entertaining, but scary…

    • Joey Wabi-Sabi

You can’t get blocked from a PUBLIC website. How many times do I have to say it? Whatever you’re trying to do it’s not going to work. You’re just mad that you couldn’t keep up with an intelligent conversation and you got completely shutdown by all of us yesterday. Go back to where you came from. You’re not smart enough to discuss movies. You already proved that yesterday with your nonsense opinions.

      • PunchInTheFace

        Heroic Hollywood is Private, Actually.

      • PunchInTheFace

Meh. You’re my girlfriend. Prove otherwise. Until then, satisfy me.

    • PunchInTheFace

WTF?! I seriously said things way more offensive than my deleted repliers.

  • PunchInTheFace

I am seriously entertained that I have not been banned yet. Mods– if we haven’t met, I will buy you a beer. I live in Central CA. If you’re worth what you’re worth, you already know that. I did try hard though. But anyways. Mods. Beer. PM me what you want. We’ll do it. Get pizza. All that stuff.

  • Steve Steve

These sound very much like the reviews for previous Ayers films. It seems his films either come together as something very good or don’t come together at all.

My expectations for Suicide Squad were measured. I think Fury and End of Watch are fantastic, while Sabotage and Street Kings are awful. Ayers has a particular set of unapologetic abilities/sensibilities. Some people like them, some don’t, but his films are either widely liked or widely disliked.

This failure is not on DC/WB directly. It is on the filmmakers and their lack of ability to bring this wonderful potential home. Say what you want about the lesser MCU films, they all serve the basic function of cinematic storytelling. Whether you value the story or not is up to you. DC desperately needs someone who can put together a decent film cut.

I have seats for the first showing on Thursday. I have already resigned myself to disappointment, but I’ll still go in hoping for the best (like I did BvS). Good or bad, the experience is worthwhile. At least if it’s bad I can torment Sammy 😉

    • PunchInTheFace

End of Watch was fantastic. Not a commentary on Suicide Squad. Just sayin’ End of Watch was brilliant.

      • Steve Steve

I agree. As was Fury. If Suicide Squad is one of his downer films, perhaps Bright will be excellent.

    • Marquis de Sade

“At least if it’s bad I can torment Sammy ;-)”

      Words to live by! LOL!

  • Marc Klein

Thanks to T MObile I’m seeing it for $1.99

    • PunchInTheFace

That’s how much your wife is charging me!!!!!

      • Marc Klein

That’s funny. Real Mature. I’m not even married.
