‘Ghost In The Shell’: Water Fight Sequence Released

Ghost In The Shell
Paramount Pictures has released a new clip from the upcoming live-action adaptation of the classic anime Ghost in the Shell featuring the water fight sequence.

The scene itself brings to life the iconic scene from the anime when The Major (Scarlett Johansson) uses her therm-optic camouflage as she takes down the hacker who was providing the ghost-hacked garbageman with hacking devices. In the anime, it is revealed both the hacker and the garbageman are under the control of the villainous Puppet Master.

While the new film won’t follow that storyline exactly as the live-action adaptation features Kuze as the main villain instead — nor is this scene as brutal as it is in the anime — it’s still great to see such a memorable scene brought to life in a way that is at least visually faithful to the original.

You can watch the water fight sequence below.

The film stars Scarlett Johansson, Pilou Asbæk, Michael Pitt, Juliette Binoche, Kaori Momoi, Rila Fukushima, Chin Han, Danusia Samal, Lasarus Ratuere, Yutaka Izumihara, Tuwanda Manyimo, and Takeshi Kitano. Here’s the official synopsis:

Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, “GHOST IN THE SHELL” follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotics advancements in cyber technology.

Ghost in the Shell hits theaters March 31, 2017.
