‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3’ Will Be The Final Film With The Current Team

Guardians
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 offered audiences explosive action and spectacular visuals, but the film also delved inside the history and emotional core of the team, allowing fans to better understand the team of eccentric heroes. Their story will continue when director James Gunn returns to write and directed the third chapter of the Guardians story, news the filmmaker confirmed before the second film had even been released. However, while fans may be excited to embark on a third adventure with the team of unlikely heroes, Gunn recently revealed that Vol. 3 will be the final film to feature the current members of the team during a Facebook Q & A session.

While the Guardians film series may continue, Gunn made it clear that the next film will conclude the story of the current team.

“With this iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy, there will be three movies. So this next movie is the final film for this iteration of the Guardians.”

While the current team may continue to appear in other Marvel Studios projects, including future Avengers films, it will be difficult to say goodbye to the current cast in the main Guardians film series. How do you feel about concluding the current team’s story? Share your thoughts below!

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Directed by James Gunn, the film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell.

10 Cosmic Heroes We Want To See In ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3’

Guardians

It’s official: James Gunn has confirmed that that he will be returning to both write and direct the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie, which is just phenomenal news. Gunn has created something really special with these films. He took third-tier (at best) comic book characters that most fans didn’t yet know they needed to love and turned their story into not one, but two blockbuster movies that are major hits, both critically (Vol. 2 is getting mostly positive buzz on social media following press screenings) and financially (the sequel’s currently tracking at about $150 million for its opening weekend).

In his Facebook post, Gunn stated that Guardians Vol. 3 will “conclude the story of this iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and help catapult both old and new Marvel characters into the next ten years and beyond.” He also made a brief mention of “some of the other forthcoming heroes” that could be appearing in the series. With these things in mind, we thought it would be a wonderful idea to explore some of the cosmic Marvel characters that fans might like to see in the third installment.

Before we jump in, a couple caveats. While it would surely be a lot of fun to see some of the Earthbound MCU characters mixing it up with the team in space, this list is only going to feature cosmic-based Marvel characters. The film will hit theaters after the Guardians’ introduction to Tony and Cap and the gang in Avengers: Infinity War, so we may still see that happen anyway. Also, I’m sure there are plenty of fantastic cosmic villains that would be great fits to antagonize the team in the third film, but we’re only focusing on the good guys in this list. Also, as amazing as it would be to see Silver Surfer or Galactus in the MCU, we’re not including anyone that Marvel doesn’t currently own the rights to, so don’t expect to see Agent Venom or Kitty Pryde or any of the other non-MCU characters that have served on the team in the comics on this list either. Also, it should be noted that I have not yet seen Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, so if any of these characters do appear, my apologies for the wasted entry.

Now, without further adieu, here are the 10 cosmic Marvel heroes we want to see in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Hit the next button below to begin!
