Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 featured a number of memorable moments, but one of the most exciting occurred during a post-credits scene where Sovereign leader Ayesha revealed that she had created Adam Warlock to continue her mission to thwart the Guardians. A powerful and important character in Marvel Comics lore, many fans were disappointed when director James Gunn confirmed that Adam Warlock would not appear in Avengers: Infinity War. The news recently prompted one fan to ask Gunn if the decision had been affected by the choice to save the character as a tease for the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, to which the filmmaker responded by stating that the decision to exclude Warlock from Avengers: Infinity War had been made regardless of his inclusion Vol. 2.

Warlock was never going to be in IW, whether or not he was in Vol 2.

As many fans know, Adam Warlock plays a pivotal role in the Infinity War comic book storyline, making his absence in the next Avengers film a source of confusion or frustration for some. However, this would not be the first time Marvel Studios has taken creative liberties with a comic book storyline, perhaps most notably in Captain America: Civil War, with positive results. So, personally, I’m confident Avengers: Infinity War will turn out just fine without Warlock’s involvement.
Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
Directed by James Gunn, the film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Glenn Close, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki and Kurt Russell.

10 Cosmic Heroes We Want To See In ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3’
It’s official: James Gunn has confirmed that that he will be returning to both write and direct the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie, which is just phenomenal news. Gunn has created something really special with these films. He took third-tier (at best) comic book characters that most fans didn’t yet know they needed to love and turned their story into not one, but two blockbuster movies that are major hits, both critically (Vol. 2 is getting mostly positive buzz on social media following press screenings) and financially (the sequel’s currently tracking at about $150 million for its opening weekend).
In his Facebook post, Gunn stated that Guardians Vol. 3 will “conclude the story of this iteration of the Guardians of the Galaxy, and help catapult both old and new Marvel characters into the next ten years and beyond.” He also made a brief mention of “some of the other forthcoming heroes” that could be appearing in the series. With these things in mind, we thought it would be a wonderful idea to explore some of the cosmic Marvel characters that fans might like to see in the third installment.
Before we jump in, a couple caveats. While it would surely be a lot of fun to see some of the Earthbound MCU characters mixing it up with the team in space, this list is only going to feature cosmic-based Marvel characters. The film will hit theaters after the Guardians’ introduction to Tony and Cap and the gang in Avengers: Infinity War, so we may still see that happen anyway. Also, I’m sure there are plenty of fantastic cosmic villains that would be great fits to antagonize the team in the third film, but we’re only focusing on the good guys in this list. Also, as amazing as it would be to see Silver Surfer or Galactus in the MCU, we’re not including anyone that Marvel doesn’t currently own the rights to, so don’t expect to see Agent Venom or Kitty Pryde or any of the other non-MCU characters that have served on the team in the comics on this list either. Also, it should be noted that I have not yet seen Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, so if any of these characters do appear, my apologies for the wasted entry.
