James Gunn Announces ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2’ 4K Home Release

James Gunn has announced that Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 will be arriving in 4K UltraHD, marking the first Disney release to arrive in UltraHD.

GOTGV2 - Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 2 4K James GunnJames Gunn has taken to Facebook to announce that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 will be arriving in 4k UltraHD, marking the first UltraHD home release for a film under the Disney umbrella.

In addition to the 4K home release, Gunn also confirmed the recent Guardians sequel will also receive a 3D home release as well. In his post, the director also teased the special features content will be announced soon. Unfortunately, there is no word whether or not the 4K or 3D release will be offered digitally at this time.

The film stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Glenn Close, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Kurt Russell.  Here’s the official synopsis:

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
