‘Jurassic World 2’: Colin Trevorrow Says Sequel Is ‘Deeper, More Character-Based’

Jurassic World 2

Colin Trevorrow may not be directing the sequel to Jurassic World, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t know what’s happening in the movie, meaning his involvement with the film hasn’t diminished either. Speaking with MTV News while promoting his latest film, The Book of Henry, Trevorrow hyped up Jurassic World 2, confirmed that the sequel will be more character-driven.

“It’s just deeper, more character-based, and it definitely leans into suspense, especially in the second half.”

Trevorrow also assured that, even though the film will give its characters more focus, there will also be plenty of action, calling one action sequence “just insane.”

“It does have the big action in the middle. There’s a sequence in the middle that I’ve been watching – I mean, I watch dailies every day – but I’ve started to see stuff come together, and it’s just insane.”

Trevorrow also apologized to anyone who thought they’d be seeing the last of the Jurassic World films. He believes director J.A. Bayona is going to prove everyone wrong.

“I apologize to those who thought they were never gonna need to see another Jurassic World movie because I think J.A. Bayona is gonna prove [them] wrong.”

Not much is known about Jurassic World 2’s plot, but the film will star Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Toby Jones, Rafe Spall, Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith, Ted Levine, Geraldine Chaplin and James Cromwell into the mix. Jeff Goldblum will be returning to the franchise, as well as BD Wong.

Jurassic World 2 will be in theaters June 22, 2018.
