LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 is looking to build upon its predecessor by not only expanding the scope of the Marvel Universe with new settings, but by bringing the Marvel Multiverse into the equation, along with new time periods.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 will feature time as a gameplay mechanic, although how this will affect gameplay besides aging Groot is unclear at the current time. In addition, the game will feature a cooperative and/or competitive 4-player mode. It’s interesting to note that almost all of the characters shown in the trailer are tied to the Marvel Cinematic Universe or the properties that are a part of it, while – aside from Kang the Conquerer himself – content representing the Fantastic Four or X-Men franchises are few and far between. Those characters skipped out on the previous LEGO Marvel title (LEGO Marvel’s Avengers), which was explicitly based on the MCU. While their previous absence was justified because of the more limited scope for that game, it would be shocking to not see them appear this time around.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 will be available on November 14 for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Windows. The game will also be released for Nintendo Switch, but no specific release date has been given beyond the note that it will be out before the holidays.
