Joe Manganiello & Marley Shelton May Join Dwayne Johnson In ‘Rampage’

Joe Manganiello and Marley Shelton are in negotiations to join Dwayne Johnson in the video game adaptation of the retro arcade game Rampage.

Rampage
A video game adaptation of the Midway retro arcade game Rampage is currently in development at New Line Cinema with Dwayne Johnson attached to star. In the video game, players would control giant monsters such as a giant ape, a giant wolf, and a giant lizard that took players around the United States as they destroyed key landmarks while trying to survive an onslaught from military forces.

THR reports Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike) and Marley Shelton (The Sandlot) are in talks to join the film. Manganiello will play the leader of a private military group with Shelton in the role of a scientist and astronaut.

The plot is still currently under wraps but it is known that Johnson is to play an animal-loving hero who is the world’s only hope. Oscar-nominated actress Naomie Harris is also attached to star as a geneticist with a moral streak.

The film is to be directed by Brad Peyton with Beau Flynn producing — the duo behind San Andreas and Journey 2: The Mystery Island.

John Rickard will produce the film under the Wrigley Pictures Banner with Hiriam Garcia producing under Seven Bucks Productions. Peyton will also produce the film under his ASAP Entertainment Banner.

Johnson will serve as executive producer along with Dany Garcia, Marcus Viscidi, and Jeff Fierson. FlynnPictureCo’s Wendy Jacobson will co-produce.

Rampage is currently slated to hit theaters April 20, 2018.
