‘The Punisher’: Ben Barnes Shares Details On Filming Season One

The Punisher
Making his Marvel Cinematic Universal debut in the second season of Daredevil, Jon Bernthal’s performance as Frank Castle/The Punisher was so well-received that Marvel and Netflix quickly announced that the character would return in his own standalone series. Joining the cast of the upcoming show will be Westworld star Ben Barnes, who will play the role of Billy Russo, a character connected to Frank Castle’s past. In an interview with W Magazine, Barnes discussed his experience while filming the series in New York City and the effort he put into his role.

While Barnes did not revealing any plot details, he did describe an intense filming process and hinted that his character will be involved in a lot of action.

“There was a lot of night work and lot of action and a lot of cold nights, and a lot of the aggressive passion. You have to give it anything when you are around that energy.”

It certainly sounds like the cast and crew put in a lot of effort and energy into making the series as great as possible, which should only increase the level of anticipation for the show.

Netflix Marvel Defenders
With the release of the first season of Iron Fist, all four Defenders have made their streaming debut to set up this summer’s mashup miniseries The Defenders. Each season has built on the last, building an intricate mythology with a living, breathing New York City to house it. The Hand has been introduced as a sort of evil S.H.I.E.L.D. to link Marvel’s Netflix dramas, building to the four uniting against them. Their separate investigations will bring them together in – what else – a hallway fight.

The culmination of the first phase of the Marvel/Netflix partnership has a lot of ‘splaining to do. What’s the Hand’s true objective? How will our four heroes interact together and how will the supporting casts of their shows intersect here? And perhaps most importantly, who is the Big Bad played by Sigourney Weaver?

We’ll talk about all that and more in the article ahead. Click Next to start!
