‘The Punisher’ To Feature ‘Military Component’, Says Jon Bernthal

Daredevil Jon Bernthal Frank Castle The Punisher

After The Punisher made his debut in the second season of Daredevil, Marvel and Netflix announced that Frank Castle would be receiving his own series with Jon Bernthal returning as the anti-hero. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bernthal and co-star Deborah Ann Woll discussed how the Frank Castle fans will reunite with in his standalone series will be a little different from the one who appeared in Daredevil.

Bernthal explained that the series will have more of “military component”:

“I think with Frank and with the world that he’s very much involved in, he’s a soldier, so I think there will be very much a military component of the show. It will be somewhat centered on that… I think that [the] Frank Castle that was in Daredevil is not in Punisher.”

Describing the series as “more grounded” than previous shows, Deborah Ann Woll explained why Karen and Frank have connected so well:

“Frank has a soft spot in Karen’s heart, and certainly with the dark history that Karen has, there are very few people she can share her authentic self with. Frank is someone who she could potentially fully open up to.”
