Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has teased Atlanta star Zazie Beetz’s Domino is going to have spectacular chemistry on screen with Ryan Reynolds as the merc with a mouth.
Liefeld recently spoke Comicbook.com while promoting his upcoming graphic novel Deadpool: Bad Blood when he shared his excited over the recent casting of the Atlanta actress in the Deadpool sequel:
“I’m telling you, having been around Ryan multiple times that mouth cannot be stopped… I don’t think he can say the jokes as fast as they are backed up in his head. So, you need… some of these people be like ‘oh hey, this girl should have been Domino, and pick out actress a through z’ and I’d be like ‘I’m not sure that they can keep up with him’ and oh my gosh, I’m not sure that Ryan’s gonna keep up with her[Beetz]… That chemistry is going to be spectacular.’ And that’s what it comes down to is the chemistry with these characters.”
While the Deadpool sequel has found it’s Domino in Beetz, the project is still trying to lock down its other lead character Cable. Stranger Things star David Harbour was said to be the top choice in the mix, however, reports emerged yesterday that Michael Shannon was the new frontrunner for the role.
Along with Reynolds and Beetz, much of the cast from the first film is likely to return including Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapcic as the voice of Colossus, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa and T.J. Miller as Weasel.
Deadpool 2 does not currently have a release date. The sequel is expected to shoot from June through September in Canada. Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick returned to script the sequel with John Wick co-director David Leich at the helm.
