Spider-Man: Homecoming has been on everyone’s radar in the last couple of weeks: so has the upcoming Venom movie starring Tom Hardy. Things got more intriguing last weekend when Sony producer Amy Pascal confirmed that Venom as well as Silver and Black would be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe featuring Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

At a recent press conference for Spider-Man: Homecoming, Holland was asked about his thoughts on Hardy taking on this iconic villain. Holland, who worked together with Hardy on Locke, praised the actor and believes Hardy will do a great job with the character. The young actor also clarified that he doesn’t know much about the Venom movie and is currently not involved with it at all.

“It’s very exciting. I think Tom Hardy will really play that character with, you know, a lot of energy, a lot of life. It can be a very cool movie. It’s not something I know about or involved in. As of now, I’m just focusing on Spider-Man 1 and a little bit of Avengers — but I don’t know anything about that movie.”

In other Venom news, it was recently revealed that the film will feature Eddie Brock going up against Carnage as the main antagonist. With production starting this September, more details about the film should be coming out in the next few months.

Here’s the official synopsis for Spider-Man: Homecoming:

“A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.”

Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming, starring Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly and Bokeem Woodbine, as well as Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Michael Chernus, Kenneth Choi, Hannibal Buress, Martin Starr, Michael Barbieri, Angourie Rice and Abraham Attah, opens on Friday, July 7.

Ruben Fleischer’s Venom, starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, is slated to hit theaters on October 5, 2018.
