‘Star Wars’ Fans Bet On Luke Skywalker’s Possible Status As Rey’s Dad

Star Wars The Last Jedi Luke Meets Rey
The incredibly ambiguous emotions shown by Luke and Rey in final scene of Star Wars: The Force Awakens have left fans wondering if they’re somehow father and daughter. Now, people can put their bets down for and against the possibility that Rey is Luke’s baby girl.

Sports Insights has observed that international betting website MyBookie officially opened up the betting market with the question of whether or not Luke is going to give Rey an “I am your father” moment of her own in The Last Jedi. The betting market is pretty close on this one, as “yes” and “no” are about neck-and-neck with “no” being slightly ahead at -130. When it comes to Star Wars bets, it’s advised that you never tell anyone the odds.

Mark Hamill, being a typical joker, took a moment on Twitter to share the article, noting that he could make a fortune off of his insider information:

Based on Hamill’s comments, it seems likely that we won’t have to wait until Star Wars Episode IX to get an answer about Rey’s parents, so expect some kind of reveal about Rey’s family in the next movie.

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi will rise on December 15, 2017. The movie’s cast includes Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico, Laura Dern as Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, Domhnall Gleeson as General Armitage Hux, Benicio Del Toro as “DJ”, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, and Jimmy Vee as R2-D2.
