When we last saw fan-favorite character and former Anakin Skywalker padawan Ahsoka Tano, it was in the Season 2 Finale of Star Wars Rebels. Ahsoka’s fate was left up in the air following an intense battle with the Jedi-Master-turned-Sith-Lord, Darth Vader. Now, we at least know that we will be seeing her again in the animated Disney XD series’ fourth and final season, as Rebels executive producer Dave Filoni confirmed this past weekend at Star Wars Celebration Orlando.
While speaking to Yahoo Movies at SWCO, Ahsoka Tano voice actress Ashley Eckstein teased her character’s return:
“I want to know more about Ahsoka’s future as this kind of neutral character. Her lightsabers are white because she’s neutral. She’s not on the Dark Side, she’s not a Jedi. She’s not even a full-blown Rebel. What is she doing? Where is she? All I can say is, you’ll see Ahsoka again.”
Eckstein also spoke about how much she would love to see an Ahsoka movie:
“I would love an Ahsoka movie, not only as the voice of Ahsoka, but just as an Ahsoka fan. It’s so exciting that we’re even talking about that, that it’s even a possibility to have a standalone film or other media with Ahsoka in it.”
Fun fact: Rosario Dawson expressed interest in playing the character on the big screen not too long ago.
We now know that Ahsoka will be returning, but the real question on some fan’s minds is, what state will she be in following her duel with Vader? The final shot of her in the finale was pretty ambiguous. The next time we see her, will she be alive or will she be a force ghost? Personally, I think she’s still out there somewhere. Filoni loves teasing Eckstein about Ahsoka’s fate, but you can tell he really does love the character that he created. I just don’t think he’d let her go out like that.
Star Wars Rebels will return for its fourth and final season this fall on Disney XD.
