In the comics, Jesus was a badass kung-fu fighter form the Hilltop community.  He eventually becomes Rick’s number two thank to his fighting, strategy, and his loyalty.  Oh yeah, he also is gay.  Jesus serves to be a great character in regards to for LGBT representation as he’s not a stereotype in any way.  He’s not a “gay character,” he’s a “character who happens to be gay.”

Fan’s weren’t sure if this would bleed over from page to screen as there has been no mention of Jesus’ sexuality on the show since he first arrived.  However, when he and Maggie have a little heart to heart, he confirms his sexuality to her.  As he is talking about not being able to fit in and find a relationship at the Hilltop, he says “boyfriend” instead of saying “girlfriend,” confirming his sexuality for comic book fans.
