‘Winds Of Winter’ Could Release In 2017 Says George R.R. Martin

Winds of Winter Game of Thrones
After numerous comments from George R.R. Martin about Winds of Winter‘s release, he is speaking out once more. The next book in the Song of Ice and Fire series has been long awaited, with the TV show Game of Thrones having already passed the books. Yet Martin says the book will very likely release this year.

When asked on his blog about the progress for Winds of Winter, Martin replied with the following:

“You really think statements like that would make a difference? Ah, you sweet summer child. I have years of experience with this that tells me otherwise. But okay, I will try it your way. Not done yet, but I’ve made progress. But not as much as I hoped a year ago, when I thought to be done by now. I think it will be out this year. (But hey, I thought the same thing last year).”

So there you have it, the next book should release this year. Yet we’d figure Martin should have a better grasp on his progress than to say he felt the same way last year. Hopefully we’ll take this comment as a sign of true progress as Martin isn’t one to make any comment without an actual idea of completion in sight.
