This week, it was revealed that Warner Bros. is in the process of developing a The Matrix reboot.
“What?!? Why?!? Is Anything Sacred?!?”
These are all questions and comments made since the announcement of a possible reboot of the classic sci-fi franchise. In a world of endless remakes/reboots, this is the one original film that many thought would remain untouched. The first film was considered bold, visionary, and an instant classic. The film changed the game in regards to blending philosophy, action, story, and countless other things to make it one of a kind. While the two sequels –The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions — were not as well received as the first film, they are still revered.
However, it was a cash cow for Warner Bros, literally printing money, so the possibility of it ending with just three films was always on the mind. It’s a franchise that had its own comics, animation movie, and video game, so the appetite is there for more of this world. So, now that a reboot is on the horizon (although it has its detractors), it might not possibly be a bad thing. Here are a few ways that a reboot might be a good idea for The Matrix franchise.
