CBS has released a preview clip for Supergirl 01.02 ‘Stronger Together’ and it’s a pretty nifty clip showing the DOE putting her through the paces. I like Henshaw’s comment that Supergirl shares her cousin’s love of wanton destruction, I think we now know where Berlanti sits on the Man of Steel destruction debate.
My favorite part is the fact that he sees a woman before he sees an alien, and I feel like that pokes fun at people who think the feminist ideas are too up front on Supergirl. People see a girl, not an all powerful alien being. The characters used that to their advantage against Vartox last episode, and now the writers are using that to make a point with the audience. You see what you want to see, it is called confirmation bias. Some people see a woman, and some people see only the girl power stuff, but there is plenty here for everyone.
Could you imagine if she wasn’t white? Earth superheroes would be complaining about how she took their jerb.
Word is we will get our first look at Peter Facinelli’s Maxwell Lord, the DC answer to The Purple Man. I’m very curious to see if they go smarmy Justice League Europe Max, or modern supervillain Max. I have a lot to say about Maxwell Lord and what he says about DC, but that is a story for another time.
