NBC Issues ‘Powerless’ Pilot

According to TV Line, NBC has officially issued a pilot for the half-hour long comedy Powerless. Six months ago, Deadline reported NBC had plans for the DC Comics property and it now appears they will be moving forward with the project.

Powerless tells the story of an insurance company, based in the DC universe, which specializes in fixing and insuring damages caused by superheroes. While everyone would love to see them mop up after the Man of Steel or the Caped Crusader, it is incredibly unlikely we will be seeing Batman or Superman appear on the show, with the rights to those characters reserved for the films.

Powerless is being created by Ben Queen who produced Drive for Fox in 2007 and wrote the screenplay for Cars 2 back in 2011. With pilot season now upon us, it will be exciting to see Powerless add a new dimension to the superhero genre.
