20th Century Fox is betting an entirely brand new superhero universe. The studio is moving forward with Irredeemable, a Boom! Comics comic book.

Fresh off an Oscar nomination, Adam McKay will be directing Irredeemable. The property is being adapted by Tommy Wirkola (Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters).

This comic book series debuted back in 2009 and tells the story of Plutonian, the world’s greatest superhero until he began heartlessly killing many people on Earth who defy him. It falls on a group of superhero individuals, known as the Paradigm, to stop his never ending killing rampage. In order to stop Plutonian, Paradigm turns to an even more famous supervillian to help take him down. This comic series has already sold over one million copies.

Boom! Studios’ Ross Richie and Stephen Christy are producing the film along with Gary Sanchez’s McKay and Kevin Messick.

No release date or production schedule has been announced at this time.
