5 Things We Might See From Baron Mordo In Future Marvel Movies

What in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is going on with Baron Mordo? I’ve been wondering this for a while now, and even more so since actually watching the movie and figuring out that Marvel is playing the long game with this particular character.

Warning: spoilers for Doctor Strange follow, so read at your own risk.

The reveal of Baron Mordo (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor) becoming the next sprawling villain in the MCU was about as surprising as the Winter Soldier turning out to be Bucky Barnes, and I mean that literally. Many of even the most casual Marvel Comics fans knew this was coming, while a huge swath of casual moviegoers did not, and I expect Baron Mordo becoming the equivalent of a Judge Dredd at the end of Strange was an entertaining surprise, or maybe even a twist, for some.

And it looks like he has a bigger role to play in the grander Marvel Cinematic Universe, since I doubt a Doctor Strange sequel is coming anytime soon, and Mordo’s clear mission to eradicate the world of extraneous sorcery isn’t something that can be put on hold for a few years, if you ask me.

So what can we expect from Mordo in the meantime? Here are some of my best guesses about the future of the character as the MCU marches on.

I write and I know things.

I’m not saying it is impossible but I really don’t think Mordo will make appearences in other films (except maybe Infinity Wars). What I hope happens is in the next Doctor Strange it is revealed that all the time Doctor Strange was helping the Avengers and such Mordo was taking the powers of all the other sorcerers except maybe Wong so in the next movie the only ones left are Strange and Mordo (with maybe Wong helping Strange or Doctor Voodoo if they decide to use him) to earn the title of Sorcerer Supreme. I just say this because I don’t think Mordo will make important appearances in other movies so that might be an explanation of what he was doing the whole time.

That’s a good guess. I’m not sure what I prefer, honestly.

In my personal opinion I don’t like that there are so many sorcerers so Mordo taking all of their powers while Doctor Strange is distracted would solve that for me. But it’s okay if you don’t agree

Just saw it today – I think Mordo was compelling and would make an excellent villainous addition to future movies, especially for a cinematic universe that generally isn’t known for compelling villains. This movie was awesome, by the way.
