5 Things We Want To See In Future X-Men Films

The X-Men Films are some of the most popular comic book movies ever made. With 8 films released and a 9th one on the way with X-Men Apocalypse being released theatrically on May 27th, the X-Men film universe is a powerhouse franchise that has been going for the last 16 years with Fox planning to continue this franchise for years to come. With this in mind, fans of the of the films and of the comics will have a lot to say as to what they would like to see appear in these future films as well as some changes they feel need to be made for the series to be even better. With this in mind it is now time  to list off 5 things that we would like to see happen with future X-Men films. These are things that would help the films and would just be awesome to see appear on the big screen and they are in no particular order.

A Wolverine Cameo in Deadpool 2

Deadpool was an astounding success. The film had the right balance of humor, action, comic accurate portrayals, and chimichanga references to make any Deadpool fan happy. With this in mind if you have seen the film, Deadpool himself makes references to Hugh Jackman in multiple spots throughout. Those moments are hilarious, but comics fans would love to see the merc with a mouth interact with Wolverine. This film exists within the X-Men universe and the two should be given the opportunity to interact with each other. Even in the Deadpool video game you get the opportunity to “Bitch Slap” him multiple times. The chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman would be great to see and would more than make up for the horrible adaptation they did in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which everyone involved admits was a big failure. Having Wolverine appear in Deadpool 2 would be great fan service and it would be a lot of fun to see.

The Original Cast Returning

X-Men: Days of Future Past was an exciting film. Not only did it bring back the cast who play the young X-Men but it also brought back the cast from the first three films. It told an interesting story that dealt with time travel with lots of flair. One of the greatest aspects was the returning cast giving stellar performances and for an entire generation Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, and Ian Mckellan represent the X-Men. I’m sure a lot of fans would enjoy bringing some of the original cast back for one final time all together. Reportedly the Dark Phoenix reboot is in the works and it would be great to have the cast return to their respective roles for this epic storyline.  If they ever plan to end this universe it would be a great idea to have them back to tie everything together nicely.

An R Rated X-Force Film

Give the success that Deadpool has had there is hope that more superhero films wouldn’t be afraid of going in the R rated direction and a prime example of a film that would benefit from an R rating is that of X-Force. This team designated for darker mutant based missions would lend itself well to an R Rated film. This team could even include Cable as the team’s leader and possibly Deadpool. This film was announced in 2013 and has been in limbo for the last few years, but with the success of Deadpool hopefully some light is shed on this project and hopefully the film will be crafted to the best quality possible with a potential R -Rating.

A Faithful Adaptation of Gambit

Gambit is a fan favorite X-Men character. His style and personality make him memorable, but when you think of making a film based solely on one character, Gambit wouldn’t necessarily be the first choice. With this being said they have an opportunity to craft something unique and potentially a lot of fun if they get it right. Channing Tatum’s choice as the lead baffled many people, but he has proven himself to be a versatile actor who has given great performances in the more comedic roles like the Jump street films as well as in drama like his appearance in Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight.  There is a possibility to make a cool movie if handled right, which hopefully they will.

Old Man Logan

As of recently there has been confirmation that Wolverine 3 will be an R- rated film. Fans have been clamouring for a more mature and gritty film with Wolverine so this is already an exciting prospect, but in addition to this fans have also been speculating and hoping that Logan’s third solo outing will be based upon the comic series Old Man Logan. A series that was set in an alternate universe in the future and featured a much older and violent take on the character. With the recent confirmation of Patrick Stewart making an appearance I don’t expect it to be an exact adaptation especially if you factor in that certain characters in that story are currently held by Marvel studios, but some inspiration from that storyline would be great to see.

The X-Men film for the most part have been successful so hopefully this trend continues on to future films and that they incorporate some of these things we would like to see.
