6 Actors Who Could Play The Rogues In ‘The Flash’ Movie

With the news breaking that The Rogues will be the villains of The Flash, we decided to make a list of actors we would like to be cast as the sinister members of The Rogues.

Captain Cold: Michael C. Hall

Nate Brail: I’m a huge fan of C. Hall. I believe that he’d crush it as Captain Cold. What Wentworth Miller brings to the table on The Flash series is great, don’t get me wrong, but C. Hall can bring a sense of seriousness and intimidation and that’s ultimately what makes a good villain.

Andy Behbakht: As someone who is such a huge admirer of what Wentworth Miller is doing with Captain Cold over at The Flash TV show and the rest of the DC TV Universe, it’s hard for me to see who could match what he does with Snart. I would want someone that can be both menacing, but not too much while also having that sass and wit because after all, we are talking about a villain named “Captain Cold”. Someone like Dexter’s Michael C. Hall would be fun for a character like that in the cinematic take of The Flash and the Rogues.

Heatwave: Channing Tatum

Nate Brail: Channing Tatum is great in everything he does. From the Jump Street movies to Magic Mike. But, he’s incredible in roles where he plays someone without intelligence. Mick Rory is that guy. Mick follows behind Cold like a wolf in a pact following an Alpha. I think C. Hall and Tatum could easily pull of this dynamic.

Andy Behbakht: Mick Rory is just completely a fun character because of his hot temper and like with Wentworth’s Cold, Dominic Purcell has really made his take on Heatwave so special and enjoyable. But given that the cinematic take on Heatwave is most likely not going to have those extra layers that Legends of Tomorrow has added to Heatwave, I envision a more villainous Heatwave that is all about the fire and fun. While he is signed up to play Gambit in the movie that just continues to look like it will never happen, Channing Tatum would be such a good fit for Heatwave, but not in a silly way.

Mirror Master: Alexis Denisof

Nate Brail: I’m a little bit iffy on this one. I would prefer Micheal C. Hall as Mirror Master, but my co-writer insisted, so I’ll let you guys hear him out.

Andy Behbakht: This could be considered as a slight cheat since he has played this role before, but only in animation. I would die to see Alexis Denisof as Sam Scudder a.k.a. Mirror Master because whenever I read the comics where he is in it, I see a slick, strategic and all-in-all, smooth enemy. I would recommend people to watch what Denisof did on Angel where he played a character that evolved into that strategic and smoothness. Wesley wasn’t a villain though, but the way that Denisof played with that, makes me just drool when I think of what he could do as Mirror Master.

Weather Wizard: David Tennant

Nate Brail: David Tennant is a genius. He played the most creepiest villain in Jessica Jones. He’s also played The Doctor, as Tennant was the 10th Doctor on Doctor Who. Tennant has range that most actors don’t have, and if he was able to bring a good villain to the MCU, he’s capable of creating a diabolical threat to The Flash.

Andy Behbakht: With a character like Weather Wizard, whose whole deal is controlling the weather in dangerous ways, I tried to think of actors that can nail the concept of being seen as godlike, someone that would scare the heck out of me despite having a name like “Weather Wizard”. Who better than the man who played the 10th Doctor, one of the most beloved versions on Doctor Who as well as one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s few extraordinary villains in Jessica Jones’ Kilgrave: David Tennant.

The Trickster: Jim Carrey

Nate Brail: Jim Carrey would be the perfect choice for the sometimes silly yet seriously deadly, Trickster. He’s already played the Riddler in Batman Forever, so he’s in the DC Family. Carrey has expressed interest in starring in a superhero film again. He most recently starred in Kick Ass 2.

Andy Behbakht: Like with TV’s Captain Cold, it is tricky (pun 100% intended) to imagine anyone, but Mark Hamill as The Trickster as he is the one who has played the character in two TV versions and in animation. So, if we are going to be able to have someone that can match that, but in a film, you need a legend, like Jim Carrey. While there are so many roles to choose from, I look at his portrayal of The Mask and The Riddler (the only good aspect of Batman Forever) as perfect references for why he would be excellent as The Trickster. James Jesse is a character that needs to be funny, but also unexpectedly dangerous: you can never see what is coming next when dealing with him. Even though The Mask was the protagonist, I will admit that I was always terrified and prepared that at any second, he would turn to the evil side and thankfully, he didn’t. I would probably never have been able to fall asleep as a child if that had happened.

Pied Piper: Daniel Radcliffe

Nate Brail: Daniel Radcliffe is a member of the Warners Family. His career was throttled by Harry Potter. He’s tried to distance himself from the wizarding world in more ways than one. So, what better way to do that than play a villain? Plus Radcliffe just looks like Rathaway.

Andy Behbakht: While he is more known for playing such a heroic character like Harry Potter, I think Daniel Radcliffe would nail the role of Pied Piper. I like the idea of Pied Piper being an enemy that is in the same age as The Flash, both very young. I also think Radcliffe should have been cast in one of these superhero cinematic universes a long time ago and I think seeing him as a villain would be refreshing, both for him and audience members. I do love the heroic turn that this character has taken in The New 52 comics, so maybe with this particular Rogue member they could portray him in one of these two ways. Either as someone that turns to the good side in the story or someone that goes from good into bad in the middle of the film.

Rick Famuyiwa’s The Flash starring Ezra Miller, Kiersey Clemons and Ray Fisher, hits theaters on March 18, 2016.
