7. Cersei Lannister
Just because Cersei is sitting on the throne now doesn’t mean she’ll be there once everything’s done. She is a master plotter who knew how to turn people towards her side. But now, as she finally holds the power she’s dreamed about, she has no strong allies to rely on.
Never doubt how far someone will go when they are desperate. Remember, Cersei essentially pushed Tommen to suicide so she would be Queen, so who knows what she will do next to stay in power. She’s already destroyed major portions of her home city and killed innocent people, so the townsfolk are more afraid of her than they are loyal. While some leaders might prefer love and loyalty, Cersei has always understood the power of fear and control. If no one fears her, people are likely to disregard her, and Cersei is tired of being disregarded. Anyone who doesn’t bend the knee will be sent to the dungeon or tortured by the reanimated corpse of Gregor Clegane. She’s as far away from the conflict with the White Walkers as someone can be, so she is comfortable in her position for now. She has a massive army at her side
But will her position survive the combined forces of the Martells, Tyrells and Targaryens once their ships reach her door step? Even if she can repel all of her enemies and keep her hold on the throne, she still has the debt collectors at the Iron Bank of Bravos to worry about, and I’m willing to bet they won’t allow her to keep disrespecting the ancient institution much longer.
