20 Actresses Who Could Play Batgirl In Joss Whedon’s DCEU Film

Batgirl
The DCEU continues to evolve and grow their cinematic universe, with some great announcements for the franchise this year. In addition to a Nightwing movie in development, we also got a kick ass Justice League trailer which gave us all sorts of goodies for the upcoming film, showing that the DCEU is continuing its course correcting of their cinematic universe and no longer playing catch up with their friendly competition. The cherry on top came this week with word that Joss Whedon, the director of The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron as well as the former script doctor/creative consultant for Marvel Studios, is in talks to direct a solo Batgirl movie for Warner Bros. and DC Films.

While details are scarce, it will focus on Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner Gordon (who will be played by J.K. Simmons). Rumor is that we will get a hard-edged storyline echoing the “New 52” version of the character after she survives a spinal injury featured in The Killing Joke.

So who could possibly be playing the new heroine? As of now, no one is attached to the role, but there’s plenty of young actresses ripe for the role. So let’s take a look and a few who could absolutely nail the role. Click Next to take a look!

    • Yes. This is the only sensible option. Not to be an ageist, but more than half of those people are too old to play Batgirl, unless it’s going to be a semi-retired/back from retirement Batgirl.

  • Derek Wiles

No to all of those choices

Why half of this try to appeal to minorities instead of the longtime fans that want the character to be comic-book accurate?

Something to do with the fact that movies are increasingly earning more worldwide than in America, my dear white boy. And while white people mathematics may make you think that anyone non white is a minority, that is no longer the case. Non white people have becoming the majority in terms of ticket sales worldwide, so more and more movies will try and appeal the ‘minorities.’
Comic accurate is basically another name for the times when white people had brute majority and every character was written to appease the white. Today it has become only a last ditch effort for racists to cling on to a past that is no longer there. Bye.

Dear white boy? Thought my name would give it away, but I am not white, but latino. And I can tell you that we dont like it when a character is changed just for the sake of being politically correct. And if you look at the sales of most comic book movies, the U.S. still is the primary source of income for this movies.

    • Rex Sharp

      Too waif.

  • Kevin Wales

I think we need a young woman who is a bit of a hardass and not too nice. I believe it kicks out some of the contenders, unless they have hidden talents that we’ve not seen.

    This list sucks.
