Adam McKay Would Be Interested In Returning To Write ‘Ant-Man & The Wasp’

After Edgar Wright departed Marvel’s Ant-Man, a number of directors were offered the project, which was rumored to include Adam McKay, before the film finally landed with Peyton Reed. However, McKay did indeed work on the film and did some re-writes on the film’s script alongside star Paul Rudd. These re-writes added some new sequences to the film, which included the introduction of The Quantum Realm into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It seems that Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige is actually quite fond of McKay and there’s been rumors for awhile that we could see him possibly helm an upcoming Marvel Studios release. Recently it was announced that a sequel to this summer’s Ant-Man will be hitting theaters in 2018 with Peytond Reed returning to direct. Will McKay return as well? When The Hollywood Reporter asked about the possibility, the writer and director had the following to say on the matter.

I was talking to [Paul] Rudd about it the other day. We’ll see what happens, but that would certainly be fun. I loved working with Marvel. And I have a couple of projects in development. One of them is more dramatic, one’s more comedy, still with a little bit of political teeth to it. And there’s a TV show idea I’ve been kicking around.

From the sounds of things, I wouldn’t be surprised if McKay did return for the sequel and I’d be all for it. The script for Ant-Man was one of my favorites when it comes to solo Marvel Studios films. I felt that the film featured the right balance of both drama and humor and fit into the MCU perfectly, while also standing on it’s own. So, bring it on. Would you like to see McKay return and take a crack at the script? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
