Enough is enough! Like most of the internet, I am incredibly tired of hearing complaints regarding the DCEU’s “dark,” “gloomy,” and “depressing” tone. Since 2013’s Man of Steel, it almost feels like critics just don’t like these DC Comics movies. Following last year’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and its critical backlash, it appears that Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder are changing gear for their next adventure, Justice League. In a new interview with Cineplex Magazine, Ben Affleck discussed the upcoming changes to this November’s ultimate team-up flick.

Affleck, who has been busy promoting his latest movie, Live By Night, has been bombarded with questions regarding The Batman and the future of the DCEU. However, in this interview, Cineplex decided to focus their time with Affleck on Justice League.

Affleck stated:

Justice League, you probably saw the teaser that came out of Comic-Con; I thought it is nicely emblematic of the kind of minor tone shift and segue in storytelling. It’s a little bit lighter, the characters are a little bit more comfortable in themselves, so they can express a wider array of emotions. And there are just more people in it, so it’s more fun. It’s all of these different characters bumping up against each other and the team dynamic offers a lot of dramatic possibility.”

Before the interview was over, the magazine then asked about The Batman. Affleck has become hilariously known for being a little annoyed when interviewers bring up the film, as the actor just wants some “damn time,” to make the movie. Affleck answered with his scripted scripted response. You can check out what Affleck said below:

“We’re still working on it, taking a little extra time and a little extra care to really get it right on paper first. But it’s looking very good and I’m excited about it.”

So, basically, Affleck just wants some time to make the movie, you know, actually good. I understand the annoyance in waiting, but come on, fanboys! Give the Oscar-winning man some space. More interestingly, how does that Justice League stuff sound? I think the lighter tone was always going to happen; if you go back and check out interviews with Snyder whilst promoting Dawn of Justice, even he said it.

You can check out Live By Night, which is in cinemas now. Justice League hits theatres everywhere this November.

He’s going to start strangling people if they don’t stop asking about batman all the damn time. He seems more comfortable with JL questions if you really have to ask him stuff about DC.

  • Bezet

This tone shift for JL has always been planned but I think that almost the whole world while be ensured that it’s because of BvS reception :)
I am looking forward to first full trailer of JL, really excited

The Nolan Batman films were dark, but they were enjoyable because they had good scripts, good acting and good direction. This is what is mostly missing from the current DC movies.
