‘Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’: No Plans On Resurrecting Characters From The Framework

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. 418 ClipThe fourth season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. came to an end a few weeks ago as Coulson and his team escaped from the Framework and dealt with Aida once and for all. While our agents were in the world of the Framework, we saw the return of several familiar faces from past seasons, including Brett Dalton’s Grant Ward and BJ Britt’s Antoine Triplett.

While Ward and Trip have both been dead for a few seasons now, since Aida was able to create herself a body, what are the chances that we could see some of these dead characters that appeared in the Framework make their way back to the real world?

In the latest edition of Entertainment Weekly’s Spoiler Room, a fan asked Natalie Abrams what the chances are that we could see Ward again for the fifth season. Unfortunately, show-runner and executive producer Jed Whedon explained that due to schedule or personal issues, it wasn’t possible for them to bring back any dead characters, like Ward.

In addition to that, Aida’s method to create herself a body was done through the dark powers of the Darkhold. Given that she used it as a way to come back, we saw that she went nuts pretty quickly as Aida was adjusting to having human feelings.

“[Due to] scheduling, or personal issues, or other shows that take our people away, it just didn’t work out. Aida rebuilt her body out of dark stuff from a dark, terrible universe, so she wasn’t exactly human. There was a Darkhold filter through which she came, so it seemed that anyone who came back that way was not, in fact, really themselves, but some corrupted version of themselves.”

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 5 will premiere sometime in January 2018 at its new time slot on Friday nights at 9/8c on ABC.

Good. The producers of this show are known to be pretty awful people IRL and the cast aren’t much better given some of their interviews. Brett Dalton can do a LOT better than this show.

Ward’s heel-turn back in season 1 was a masterstroke, made him a lot more interesting, and was finally given a hero’s end in the Framework. Also they’re not afraid to kill off popular characters like Tripp and Radcliffe… as much as I would like to see them back it only makes sense they don’t return.
Hopefully Bobbi and Hunter return next season.
