As we are about a week out from the season three premiere of the ABC series, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the official description for the second episode has been released and it looks to be a very Asgardian centric episode.
If you were a fan of Peter MacNicol’s (Ally McBeal) character in season one, this should excite you as he will be reprising the role of Professor Elliott Randolph. Catch the full description below.
“Purpose in the Machine” – Fitz and the team enlist the aid of an Asgardian to unlock the secrets of the ancient monolith that swallowed Simmons, and Agent May is at a crossroads in her personal and professional life, on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

From the looks of it, it seems that Simmons will still be MIA after being swallowed by the alien stone in the season finale back in May. While it’s doubtful that they will actually feature Asgard in any shape of form, except for some potential archive footage, it will be interesting to see that side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe be featured on the show again.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3 begins on Tuesday September 29, 9/8c on ABC.
