‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D’ EP’s On The Framework’s Potential Return

Agents Shield Ratings
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s final story arc for season four focused largely on the characters being trapped in alternate world where Hydra emerged as a controlling power. Known as the The Framework, the storyline was generally well-received, particularly for offering viewers a fresh take on their favorite characters, whose alternate lives remained ingrained in their memories even after their escape. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producers Jeff Bell and Jed Whedon discussed a potential return to the digital world in the show’s future.

Bell didn’t rule out a possible return to the Framework, but explained that the writing team is focused on telling new stories:

“Everything we do is based on not wanting to repeat ourselves. We’re trying to tell different kinds of stories and show our characters in different situations. The last thing we want is for people to say, ‘Oh, they’re trotting that thing out again.’ If there were a way to tell a fresh story with something else to say, I think all storytelling is on the table.”

On the other hand, Whedon revealed that there are some who are advocating for our heroes to revisit the alternate reality:

“The Framework opened up a lot of ideas and a lot of possibilities, and our head of post keeps reminding us of that, because he’s the biggest fan of the Framework, and he thinks it should be its own spinoff show.”

10 Possible Things To Look Forward To In ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Season 5

Agents of SHIELD

This week marked the season finale of the fourth season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Suffice to say, this has been a stellar season for the show. Probably one of Marvel’s best seasons on television (depending on how you feel about Legion). Season 4 gave us 3 distinct story arcs: Ghost Rider, LMD, and Agents of Hydra, and all of them were perfect. There was the right amount of drama, actions, story, and intrigue that held us over from week to week. Despite having a later timeslot this season, the ratings (thanks to loyal fans) held strong and the show was renewed for a 5th season in the 2017-2018 season for ABC. Even though the show is now in the “Friday Night Death Slot,” ABC President Channing Dungey is not worried as he feels the show has a strong enough fanbase to still do a great job, which it why Inhumans and Once Upon a Time will also share Friday nights with them.

As stated before, the season finale was an exceptional close to an explosive season. You can check out our review of the episode as well as our pointing out of all the MCU Easter Eggs for that episode. As the season finale ended with a great cliffhanger, there are so many places for the 5th season to go. Here are a few things in the upcoming season to look forward to. Click Next to take a look…

“We want to tell new stories”.

Show has brought back hydra and grant ward how many times? Sorry, I’m a fan of the show but there’s only so many times those 2 things can be rehashed. Please do tell new stories that dont involve hydra or ward. Seriously. A full season without either of those would be awesome.
