Al Pacino Says Gal Gadot As Wonder Woman Is Something Special

Al Pacino Gal Gadot Wonder WomanBack in the day, the prospect of some of the most-respected actors and actresses taking a role in a comic book film seemed pretty crazy. However, in the Heroic Age of Hollywood, some of these veterans of the craft are lining up to join the likes of Marvel and DC films given that much of the product is of quality. Don’t believe that notion? Well, Al Pacino seems to agree because he is a big fan of Gal Gadot and her performance as Wonder Woman.

Pacino appeared on the Maltin on Movies podcast back in March, and was asked about what modern acting talents he finds the most exciting. Pacino mentions actors such as Leonardo DiCaprio and James Franco as people that stick out in his mind, but it is when he mentions Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman that he, Leonard Maltin and Jessie Maltin start to gush together:

“You ever see that girl in Wonder Woman? Sometimes I’m just home and you have all those films you can pick [and] there’s Wonder Woman in the middle… I’ll look at it five minutes a day just to see what she does. She is something.”

Before she landed the role as Wonder Woman, some feared that Gadot would not be a good fit to play the most iconic female superhero of all-time given her main profession as a model before starting an acting career. However, from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and especially Wonder Woman, Gadot has been universally praised for her portrayal – and is certainly the current MVP within the DC Extended Universe.

Also, Al Pacino is one of the greatest actors of all-time. The legend has appeared in so many films that can be considered to be of the all-time greats – part of which is why it is so infuriating that he only has one Academy Award to his name. The fact that Pacino is praising Gadot as Wonder Woman is just a testament to her talents as well as what she really brings to the character.

Plot details for Wonder Woman 1984 are currently under wraps, though the film will follow the Amazonian Princess during the Cold War as she faces off against the Soviet Union in the 1980s and encounters a new adversary named Cheetah.

Directed by Patty Jenkins and written by Dave Callaham, who based the script on a treatment by Jenkins and Geoff Johns, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot as the titular heroine, Kristen Wiig as Cheetah, Pedro Pascal in an undisclosed role, and Chris Pine as Steve Trevor.

Wonder Woman 1984 is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on November 1, 2019.
