Aldis Hodge has revealed how he’s preparing for the role of Hawkman in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam movie.

Although Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam won’t start production until 2021, Aldis Hodge recently took to Instagram to share how he’s preparing for his Hawkman role in the upcoming DC Comics film. Hodge joined the cast as part of the Justice Society of America, which will also feature characters like Doctor Fate, Noah Centineo’s Atom Smasher and Cyclone. Hodge revealed that he’ll be taking inspiration from several notable JSA comic runs.

The Black Adam star posted an image of the Hawkman and JSA graphic novels he’s reading to prepare for his role opposite Dwayne Johnson, which mainly features a lot of stories from notable DC writer and executive, Geoff Johns. Aldis Hodge noted in the description that the books are his weekend homework before including hashtags of all the writers and artists. Take a look at the image below.

Are you excited to see Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman make an appearance in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam? Have you read the books he’s reading as research? What do you think the film will do with the character? Sound-off in the comments below!

In the meantime, fans can still re-watch the original Shazam! film on all home media formats:

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quick.

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Djimon Hounsou.

Shazam! is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Black Adam is currently scheduled to hit theaters on December 22, 2021.
