News about the upcoming Black Panther film has started to break including the possibility of Lupita Nyong’o joining the cast but Alexandra Shipp, Storm in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, would like to see the universe expanded.
There are currently no plans for an X-Men/Marvel crossover but Shipp is very open to the idea of these characters teaming up together.
“I want that movie so bad. I’ve got a pitch, I’m like coming up with a vision board, I want this movie to happen. Honestly it doesn’t have to be me – if Chadwick [Boseman] was like ‘you know what I really want to do this with Hallie’ I’d be like yo, that’s fine at least make the movie.”
While its highly unlikely that X-Men/Black Panther could join forces because of studios, it has merit within comic book lore. Black Panther and Storm have fought side-by-side numerous time and the two were even married for a brief time.
When asked instead if Shipp would be interested in a solo project for Storm, she admitted the possibility would be very cool, adding that Storm could have her own squad.
“Storm is so used to being on her own — she finds these families and these people she really cares for — I wonder what it would be like to see Storm on her own — wouldn’t that be dope if Storm didn’t [have a squad]?”
