Alfred Molina Comments On Whether Or Not He’d Be Interested In Playing Doc Ock Again

For the most part, fans are excited to move on and see a new incarnation of the Spider-Man franchise that will kick off with the character making his debut in this year’s Captain America: Civil War. However, there are a few actors from the Sam Raimi films that fans would be fine with returning in rebooted versions of their roles. The first, of course, being J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson.

Right behind that? Alfred Molina who portrayed one of the franchise’s most memorable villains in 2004’s Spider-Man 2, Otto Octavius aka Doctor Octopus. Simmons has expressed interested on his side when it comes to the idea but would Molina be up for it? While speaking with ComicBook, Molina commented on the possibility and whether or not he would be interested in the role if he was offered it.

I think, maybe. I doubt if it will happen, because I think things move on. Yeah. Why not? If you’re asking me would I be interested in doing Doc Ock again, I’d say yes. Absolutely. It’s one of the great roles. Yeah. I can’t see it happening personally.

I’d lean more towards the possibility of Simmons returning than Molina but wouldn’t be against it if they decided to go that route. Would you like to see Molina return as a new version of the character or should they move on and cast a new actor into the role?
