Person of Interest and Angel star Amy Acker has been cast as the female lead in Matt Nix’s (Burn Notice) untitled X-Men television series on FOX. Acker will be playing the character of Kate Stewart, wife of Stephen Moyer’s Reed, that is described as follows:
“Kate Stewart, a woman who is struggling with her separation from her husband Reed (Moyer) and her increasingly challenging teenage children. When her family situation takes a dark turn, she finds that she’s stronger than she thinks.”
The Hollywood Reporter also revealed that Emma Dumont (Pretty Little Liars) has been tapped to bring the Marvel character Lorna Dane a.k.a. Polaris to life in the series who is described as “a strong-willed, brave and loyal mutant who has the ability to manipulate magnetism”. In the comics, Polaris is the daughter of Erik Lehnsherr a.k.a. Magneto. In addition, Percy Hynes White (11.22.63) has joined the show as Andy who is described as “a sensitive kid and bit of a loner, who keeps to himself to avoid the turmoil he faces at school and at home.”
The pilot will be directed by X-Men’s Bryan Singer who works as an executive producer on the show that recently got a pilot order. The show has been adding new cast members over the past few weeks, with Moyer (True Blood) as Reed, Jamie Chung(Once Upon a Time) as Clarice Fong/Blink, Blair Redford (Switched at Birth) as Sam, Sean Teale (Incorporated) as Marcos Diaz/Eclipse and Natalie Alyn Lind (Gotham) as Lauren.
“The Untitled Fox Marvel Project will focus on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive. The series will be produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Marvel Television, with 20th Century Fox handling physical production.”
Nix’s creative team consists of X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner, director Bryan Singer, X-Men screenwriter, Simon Kinberg, Jim Chory and Marvel TV President Jeph Loeb that will all be serving as Executive Producers on the project. These people are also involved with the FX series, Legion.
