‘Mission: Impossible 6’ Adds Angela Bassett; Ving Rhames Confirmed

MissionDeadline reports Angela Bassett has signed on for a role in Mission: Impossible 6.

The actress will begin work on the sixth installment of the franchise which is currently in production next week.

Character details remain a mystery as the plot itself is still under wraps but the actress will join Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Alec Baldwin, Sean Harris and Simon Pegg who are all returning along with newcomers such as Henry Cavill, The Crown actress Vanessa Kirby, Supergirl‘s Frederick Schmidt, and Sherlock‘s Sian Brooke.

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation director Christopher McQuarrie returns to helm the sixth installment. McQuarrie is also producing the film along with Cruise, Don Granger and J.J. Abrams as well as David Ellison and Dana Goldberg of Skydance Productions. The film is being shot with IMAX 3D cameras.

The director also confirmed earlier today via Instagram that Ving Rhames will once again be returning for another outing as Luther Stickell. You can check out McQuarrie’s post below.

Production has been underway on location in Paris since McQuarrie announced the start of filming in April and is expected to continue in London, India and New Zealand until the shoot wraps up in July.
