‘Ant-Man’ Crosses $500 Million Internationally

Following on the heals of Avengers: Age of Ultron, many wondered if Ant-Man would be Marvel Studio’s first, dare we say, flop.

Not one to disappoint, the diminutive hero has proven he can hang with the big boy by crossing the $500 million dollar mark, according to Forbes.  With an assist from the international box office, the Paul Rudd-starer has now earned more than Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor, and sits approximately $85 million behind the first Iron Man in its total box office take.  The fact that it is within relative striking distance of the film that introduced us to the Marvel Cinematic Universe alone is astonishing (see what I did there).

Ant-Man has done particularly well overseas.  It was just a few weeks back that Ant-Man opened massively in China, becoming the second-largest Marvel Studios opening there behind only Ultron.

While not crossing the billion-dollar mark like both Avengers films, or Iron Man 3, it has done well enough in the eyes of the Disney/Marvel brass to earn a sequel – Ant-Man and the Wasp is coming to us on July 6th, 2018.

Are you surprised that Ant-Man has done as well has it has?  Let us know below!
